Funniest Sports Chant

On the first day of Xmas, my true love sent to me...

An Eric Cantona.

(repeat)

the best i've ever heard, the english to the germans:

"1 nil down, 5 -1 up, 2 world wars and 1 world cup!"

Funny is hard to tell, that shizophrenic goalkeeper thing is brilliant, but what I found hilarious was not precisely the chant but a chereography done by HSV fans in the derby against Werder two weeks ago.

As this season for the first time in more than 20 years both teams at once were competitive enough for the top spots of the league it became a sort of custom over the season to sing "Die Nummer 1 im Norden sind wir" (the number 1 in the north is us) whenever one team had a lead on the other in the league or just during a matchday when the others' result was shown in the stadium.

So during the derby on the last matchday which would decide who would ultimately be first in the north this year the Hamburg fans made a rather large choreography spanning the whole stands on one side of the stadium with several huge banners reading "Die Nummer" then "1" and then "sind wir". The funny thing was when their "1" broke apart in midst of the chereography. They then lost the match. :D

My favorite comes from our student section
"Skyview Skyview dont be blue we kicked your ass in football too"!
or
Strawberry shortcake bannana split we make your team look like shift to the left shift the right sit down stand up fight fight fight

From basketball games at my high school...

Go back, go back, go back to the woods
Your coach is a farmer and your team is no good.
.

One year, we were losing really bad to our archrival when they started chanting:

"It's just too easy."

We responded:

"Just like your girls."

aug 2007- maybe not proper english, but i guess you got the meaning:

home game in wembley, we're on a home game in wembley, home game in wembley... :D

At Austin Peay State University their big shout is "Let's go Peay!"
And whenever Peay fans want to encourage school spirit and rowdiness, they shout "Show your Peay-ness!"

But my favorite would have to be during college games when the losing team shouts "That's alright, that's ok, you'll all work for us one day!"

I like some of the Barmy Army chants. I like when they lost the the Perth Test they sang "We're gonna win 4, 3. We're gonna win 4, 3." Considering that there were only five matches in that series.

It wasn't a chant but the shawon-o-meter at cubs games was hilarious. I used to hear overrated a lot at illini games in 04. Usually right before we demolished the team we were playing. The bears fans sing their song a lot too, geez does it suck.

(Used to be, at least

) When they lose on the road, the home crowd
often chants "Peay got flushed!"

Back in my highschool games there was this cheerleader who got wasted then . .. .. .. . herself. So the next football game the crowd went, "Diapers, Diapers, Name Name Name."

I was at a Sunderland game against West Ham in the FA Cup, way back in the season where they only got 19 points in the premiership, and the West Ham section started singing "always look on the bright side of life!"

the 1. FC Köln got relegated from the german Bundesliga quite a few times the last years (and managed to came back just as often) so the fans sing:

"And then we get promoted, and then we get relegated, and then we get promoted, and then we get relegated... we think it is funny coz' we are ********"

I must mention that "And then we get promoted" (..und dann steigen wir wieder auf) is the traditional chant for low tier clubs
