funny/clever unrestricted combos?

Hmmm, well most of my cities will have reached their happy cap by the time I get to Maths, so Hammams really help a lot at the time they become available. Ball Courts / Odeons are also nice, but come a little too late, the Hammam is just superb at lifting your max population and health limits, I would always rather have this than terraces. +2 :culture: doesnt really help much economically compared to +2 :).

Everytime I've tried playing Inca, I havnt preferred the Terrace over other economic boosting UBs.

terrace is better then hammam just based on the fact every city will get granary.

I usually don't build aqueducts at all, except for Ottomans where they convert to reasonable building.

Making every granary the cost of 30H (costs the same as monument) is just lol in the inca's case ;-).

Victoria of the Zulus hahahahaha XD

It'd be a decent civ with 2 good traits, good UB and UU but nothing unusual or clever.

I'd like to try a leader with 2 good traits for Sumeria. Boudica would be interesting, Cheaper promotions with free Combat I on my Vultures with cheap Barracks. I know other leaders would do better but it sounds fun.

Boudica of Rome is a standard fun combination, although admittedly she isn't the best leader for Rome. If you're able to do a lot with Prats you want Organized.

Another leader for the Aztecs would be a nice combo.

I think, Hammurabi [AGG/ORG] is the one for Sumeria.
Combat1 for the Vulture and the cheaper ziggurats are built twice as fast.

He would work for the Aztecs too.

EDIT: Roosevelt [IND/ORG] of Sumeria should be a Great combo for generating Spy points.
He can build The Great Wall and Ziggurats more quickly than others.

I dont think that this is worth losing 45 :hammers: libraries and free border pops.

Ziggurats call for rexing, and CRE is the best trait for that. With Hammurabi you would just get 45 :hammers: Ziggurats, cheaper barracks, and then nothing else.

Suryavarman of Sumeria gets 30 :hammers: granary, 45 :hammers:, and normal 90 :hammers: ziggurat plus worker discount. Cathy gets cheap libraries, ziggurats and settlers. More cities sooner benefits the Ziggurat the most, and both Sury and Catherine are better for this.

Another idea would be Zara of Sumeria, 45 :hammers: Libraries and Ziggurats.

True. I guess, it depends on the goal of the player. If they want to conquer, they choose one, REX another, become the Spy leader, another.

Sumeria is very Versatile, can do a lot in the early game with those Ziggurats + Vultures.

Dont think of the Ziggurat as their UB, think of at least 2 extra cities in the Ancient Era, and faster post Ziggurat expansion with cheap Libraries on top. By the time other Civs would complete researching CoL, Sumeria can have like 4+ extra cities without going broke with more Libraries built on top, either through expansion or conquest. That is their huge advantage.

Brennus of The Mongols. You can play some genuinely evil games juggling theocracy and feudalism to milk those Gers with the extra boost a CHA leader gets from them.

Even the Shwedagon Paya becomes pretty good considering the mysticism route is justified when CHA.

Sittingbull of the Chinese?

Beeline Metal Casting, chop/whip a forge. Bulb machinery while researching iron working.

Ramesses of Viking doing the religion thing on a water map might be fun - Angkor Wat's not bad on those maps.

Tokugawa of Germany.

It's the most cherry tapping you can do without xml edits.

How about Toku of Russia? Starting techs are the same, the UU comes late, the UB is latest of them all and almost useless unless you're going for space.

Gandhi of Egypt could potentially be the ultimate religious combo (super-early great prophets, cheap temples and ability to switch religions and civics at will).

I dont think that this is worth losing 45 libraries and free border pops.

It is if you can make use of the UU, which is suddenly extremely easy to do.

The reason expansive terrace is so strong is that you save the monument :hammers: in every single city you place early on while getting the best economy building in the game sooner...IE you gain :food: while saving :hammers:, earlier than any other civ can practically do so, and that snowballs. Joao of Inca is for that reason particularly obnoxious and strong.

The assembly plant is definitely not better than the research institute, even if it isn't much worse.

The cossack has a real chance of seeing use and is miles better than one of the trashiest UUs in the game, the Panzer. Germany is definitely more cherry tapping than Russia.

A few other good combos are cyrus of mongolia, Darius of Egypt (who needs a good UB when you can rush + recover + winzor), Churchill of Mali (in case you want to break MP), Elizabeth of Spain, and Frederick (or roosevelt) of Aztec.

Also, Alex of Sumeria is pretty good because you can spam conquest of a lot of land and then cheese out an early great spy for MASSIVE tech theft recovery.

I don't think anyone has said my current favorite: Lincoln and Byzantine. Those Kataphracts with a lot of experience are awesome! The extra happiness really helps early in the game.

here are some i like to get in 3v3+ multiplayer games

ancient start:
agg/exp - Rome
exp/imp - india
fin/exp - egypt

medi+ start:
agg/imp - india
exp/imp - byz

modern+ start:
spi/imp - india

Just edit the Forum to give -50 maint costs or 100% gold or some such.

The only reason to play the stock game is if you enjoy frustraton. I screw with my xml all the time... :king::goodjob:
