This was a MP game versus 2 friends - we had the rule that each one of us had a chance to call a regenerate map once.
I had allready called my regen map before this start. So I had to take this SS to convince them to give me another :) Would have been walkover on me

That could have been an awesome start. Looks to me like you've got 5 marine resources and immediate access to a goody hut. Your capital would have had a great natural defense, meaning that your friends wouldn't be able to rush you, and they would be forced to deal with the barbs that couldn't reach you.

I thought of that. On the other hand, with all those food resources plus three hills, early settler production shouldn't be much of a problem. Especially since early hammers won't have to be devoted to defending against the rushes made by MP friends.

By the way, welcome to the CFC forums, thormam!

thx - dunno why I never registred before. Bought Civ1 retail and have been hooked ever since :)

anyway yes it would be a ok capital - but still its MP - so the others would have gotten 3 cities + 10+ huts before I get to build a new city etc.

There was no discussion - I got a new start :)

Would be even more funny if I got a settler in the hut

Me: So how's the latest polls?
Campaign Manager: Well sir, let's put it this way. You would need to give each and every one of your workers their very own unique religion to stop them from trying to starve to death....

[EDIT] Is it just me or should the unhappiness level actually be -19?

It would be if the pop was 19, it's only 17, the babies don't get  until they are actually born...

Ummm... O.K. Whatever you say Asoka.

This is perfectly usual; this is WFYABTA (We Fear You Are Becoming Too Advanced); basically, the more you tech, the less opportunities for trade you get. Try searching WFYABTA in the forum strategy articles if you want to know more about it :)

I think the amusing thing was that Asoka has an 8 tech lead (at least) in 300BC and then made the absurd claim that the human was too advanced!
In addition if you look closely you can make out the scores in the bottom right and Asoka is leading with 1195, the human player is last with 387!
Basically I suspect he won't trade because the situation is this...you=bug, Asoka=Large boot, war=soon.

I think I've read somewhere that you can only trade for so many techs. After that the AIs start whining (some sooner than others). So in this SS the player has probably already traded for too many techs, so even though he's not advanced at all, the silly message still pops up.

I know perfectly well why it occurs, but it is still silly in situations like those.

Holy crap!....that on Deity?

Yes it is on Diety. I was trying G-Major 14 and got my a** kicked.

Now I can build strong melee units (and paratroopers)!
