Hello,
I have never rooted for the Lakers before Gary Payton and Karl Malone came to LA and the only reason I root for them now is because Gary and Karl deserve a championship.
The whole Lakers story this year has been a true coaster ride and the team has still been strong enough to go to the finals.
I wanted some thought on the future of this team and what will happen to this dynasty on the decline.
Topic 1- Koby Bryant this year has started to get compared to Michael Jordan and I for one believe Kobe does not deserve this credit. Yeah, he hit some big shots and he has been going through a legal battle this year but the guy just is not at the level Jordan was at even at the end of his career with the Bulls. Koby has come off screens this year with two to three players spying him and teamates like Gary Payton or Devean George will be wide open in the corner for a jumper and Koby will drive the lane and put up some wild lay-up that just makes a mess for Shaq to have to clean up. I am not saying Koby isn't good but Jordan made his teamates like Tony Kukoc their living by giving them the ball when they were open.
Topic 2-Karl Malone and Gary Payton both may leave at the end of this year but I just dont believe Karl Malone will go away if the Lakers lose to the Pistons and that is looking like a possibility now.
Topic 3-The Lakers were expected to win 60-70 games this year because of there hall of fame linup and that did not happen. I look at the small foward position of LA as a weakness. Rick Fox and Devean George just have not provided then numbers they have needed this year and that leads me to a question. Can the young Like Walton start next year in LA? His dad was a hall of famer so you know he has the blood to be a good player and he stepped up in game 2 of the finals to provide a boost for the Lakers. I know Walton is young but his wotrk ethic has made him a good outside shooter and his game is just going to keep getting better in my opinion.
Any thoughts are welcome from any basketball fans out there if there are any.
Thanks,
Alsbron Quarterback
