Is it known or is it likely that the smokes correspond to different consoles/computer os? six builds could maybe be for
1. windows
2. Mac/Linux
3. App Store
4. Ps4
5. Xbox
6. Switch

There would be no reason to see anything update on Steam regarding Xbox, PS, Switch. Mac is done by Aspyr and can be sometimes linked to Steam depots as far as I'm aware. What is "app store"? Steam is an app store, so is Xbox Gaming app, so is Epic's launcher, so is GOG Galaxy...etc. So, you have 2 points left. I don't know if Linux supports Civ, and otherwise they might have their own builds too.

By App Store I meant iOS (iPad/iPhone) and the other equivalents. Moot point though as you are right those wouldn’t be on steam.
I believe the Linux point was handled by aspyr so per what you said that could be ruled out to.

Yeah, to be honest I am just relating what I have read so far on these forums. I'm by no mean an expert on the matter. For that we have @WillowBrook, @Eagle Pursuit and others.

The mac and linux builds each have two test branches on Steam, one for internal testing, one that goes to 2k for approval. These four branches have not been updated since last year.

We have seen no evidence of other platforms being tested on Steam. I don't think we can rule out the possibility entirely, but I think it's unlikely.

The name is on the depot. They haven't revised the DLC name to reflect the associated depot. Runner started out this way too.

Runner, Plaid, and Zoomzoom are having no part of it though.

Edit *Google says USK is an organization that determines age ratings in Germany.

Beta keys are how you access builds other than the primary game build.
