G-Minor 2

Tech score slows considerably once you hit future tech and have all other techs, so I switched to culture and happiness to make my citites grow.

Remember that each future tech grants +1 :health: and +1 :) , so continuing research is IMO your best option.

In my case, I had just finished the tech tree and I looked at my score distribution. I noticed the score being divided into 4 compnentes, and felt that I would acheive a better score by maximizing all of the components of Tech, Land, Pop, and Wonders. I was low on wonders and making very little cash, so I felt the best way to up the score near the end was to fill up the other numbers. I basically turned every city into an OCC style affair, producing maximum food, sswitching to Universal Suffrage, upping culture for health, and buying all of my national wonders. Once That was done, I went back to research and rocket ship parts. During the culture/pop growing phase Orleans flipped, giving me 67.66% land (1 square short of domination), boosting my score yet again.

I was thinking about the point in your post and reran the scenario from the date that I finished the tech tree. I stayed max science and ended up at future tech 10. My final base score was 400 points lower.

Were the situation different, ie, I had managed city growth better and gotten my national wonders earlier, staying at max tech would have been better. I ended up with close to 600 (aprox) base points by finishing Wall Street/Oxford/Hermitage/Globe. I got another 400 or so by moving the population up in all cities by about 7. As you may have noticed, Beijing was pretty huge by the time the game ended.

You know that there are Domination limit alerts in the HOF Mod, don't you? It is an add-on we did to the Civ4lerts mod. It is on the HOF1 Option tab, right side, towards the bottom.

I had this on, but then forgot it and pressed enter. DOH
You definately need this option turned on for this one.

Does your choice of leader effect your score?
If you post a score it would be good to see which leader you went.

Sorry 'bout that. I was playing with Qin Shi Huang.

America was Roosevelt, and France was Napoleon, England was Fredrick, and England was Victoria. Wanted to keep Industrious civs out, and me=industrious.

FYI...AI built the Oracle in 90 BC. In case you were thinking about getting Physics with it or something.

I think that many people are going to choose Qin, since Industrious/Financial seems to be optimal for milking this game.

In other news...
Chieftan level is crazy! I popped a hut with a warrior on my 3rd turn, and you know what I got? A settler! I decided to explore around a bit to make sure I settled in an optimal location, and stumbled upon another hut. I pooped it, and do you know what I got? ANOTHER SETTLER! 3700BC, and I have 2 settlers! :crazyeye: This will have an interesting effect on the game, since it will take a very large productive burden off of my capitol, and get me very powerful, very early. Unfortunately, this won't have as great an effect overall, since this is a milking game and not a quick-conquest.

Both settlers then went on to settle in strategic locations, completely locking out the Americans and English from the rest of the continent.

he wins the game in 2050, so it's considered a time victory, but he won two other victory conditions at the same time.

I would say that's a bit lame. but oh well. I guess if the game allows it and it hasn't been fixed yet then it's acceptable. However, the point gain on Chieftain from Ancient Age is very different than Deity/Modern. When you do a modern start, all of your cities start with 5 pop. If you plop down 10 cities that's 50 population added in one turn.

I guess something similar could be done on Chieftain to get the land bonus: Wipe out your enemies on the last turn and plop great artists in them immediately.

Even if you don't get the artists, you still get the pop points.

Antoher trick I noticed in that game was taking the opponents last city but requiring complete kills (leave a unit alive so the civ doesn't die), then gift him some crappy backwater city, making to much easier to later steal the city back.

I've just finished my first try, but it was domination in 1500.
Noticed that the AI does get wonder though. Maybe I'll try again some day.

Nice 3 vitories at the same time.

First try with a score of 7,283 and 12,098. So which score is used?
The lower.

Did you read the writeup?

I had around 5000 points when I won a domination victory.

7249 points on my first attempt. I almost won diplo by getting my third legendary city. I had to give it away for few turns. It cost me a better score as I used alot of my tanks to take it back instead of invading.

Rome vs. Vicky, Roosevelt, Nepoleon, and Bismark. I popped a few techs but not settlers. I don't think the early game matters as much. Putting together a massive points grab on the last turn is the way to go. ;)

Man these games take forever, but it's a fun new way to play. I'm currently at the year 2000 (same first attempt where I missed the Oracle - 90BC). I'm up to 28 cities. I can't see how you'd reach the dom. limit with only 6 cities. I think I'm safely under the dom limit by 3%. No reason to cut it too close. I just passed 10,000 points. Several cities are just starting out and have a lot of growing to do yet.

I just got Future Tech 32.

I played Bismark for the Health (big mistake). Health will never be an issue.
vs. Washington, Frederick, Liz, and Louis...funny, the exact opposite of you Denniz.

Thx for reminding me to check for accidental culture win.

50 Turns to go...

I'm not sure I have the patience to set up a big point grab on the last turn (not even sure what that entails). I'd hate to blow this long game by winning Domination. Since I made a few bad choices on this run, I'll probably not milk the final turn. How much of a point jump do you expect on the last turn?

I know Shadowsong played Deity and Future but probably couple hundreds in Chieftain.

Check out your "Score by winning this turn." 10,000? No where to go but down from there...

I wonder if anyone will be able to break 8000.

You didn't claim land the last turn.

I thought land only counts towards the score if it's been owned by you for a number of turns? Isn't that something that was introduced in the 1.52 patch? You might well get the points for the extra population though.
