G-Minor 23

Wow 1660! That's early. I tried this too, the first chalenge I've done. I got it up in 1868AD, ending score of 9411. I was Cyrus against Isabella on Pangea (which I chose on my own) and tropical (which I also chose).

Good Job for finishing your first hof challenge :goodjob: But if you want to have a faster date, you may want to try out the financial leaders as they generally tech faster. Also you may want another peaceful financial leader as your opponent/trading partner. I may suggest picking a map that has more lands than water, like highland, oasis, great plains and lakes.

Actually according to the hof, someone has sumbitted a 1575 AD victory, so I'm sure some ppl can probably pull off in the 1400s.

you weren't on Quick time, if you launched in 1868...the 1800s pass by in 5 year increments. :crazyeye:

ok, I give this a try and I launch at 1660 AD.

Use elizabeth, cottage spam wherever there is space. By the end, I can get get tech that are 2-3 turns.

I receieved quite a lot of great people, but I only spent them on the last golden age after I built Taj Mahal. The rest I just use to lightbulb future tech as I dont need the extra golden age.

hm, maybe I should attempt a cottage spam one myself...I've done for a Specialist Economy in all of my attempts so far, I end up with a decent research pace, but still take 5 turns for the last techs.

I know what I'm doing tonight if I can talk my way out of Karazhan. Settler's an interesting choice. I know I can at least get a victory (just starting to tackle Noble these days), but I doubt I can come anywhere close to some of y'all's scores. It'll be fun and definitely educational to try, though.

Oh, howdy by the way!

Welcome to CFC and more importantly the HOF! :band:

The nice part about this gauntlet is that it doesn't require much time. You can easily sit down and play a game in just a couple of hours, if that.

Ok, feeling kinda dumb here. I read the rules page which says I need to have the HOF mod installed. I followed the link to the mod page but I don't see an actual download there, just installation instructions. Where do I find the mod?

Edit: Never mind, I scrolled all the way down.

1660 for myself...but I wasted time in taking Aluminum by force, only to lose it to culture and have to take it by force again, both times under pacifism. I also had to gift away a city to avoid winning by domination...wouldn't have been a problem though if I didn't sack two of Mansa's cities over that Aluminium.

I used primarily cottage spam with a single SE city. I like the plains map for this with a financial civ to take advantage of the rivers.

1958 on a lakes map with Huayna Capac vs. Ragnar. I set tech on a path to rocketry right away to see how it would go. Wouldn't have really been my choice for research order in hindsight, so I can make up time there.

Only built three cities, was worried about domination, but probably could have built more by putting them closer together. 3 cities also meant no oxford university.

That was fun, I can do better =)

I thought it was supposed to be random leaders...

So, we're allowd to pick everything? I'll try picking a better map also. Should Mansa Musa be my opponent as he does a lot of trading?

The AI techs so slowly tech trading isn't much of an issue really. I got calendar and one other tech from Mansa. Mansa is soft though (he offered to become my vassal in 140AD when I didn't attack him at all in the game), he offered about 4 times more, but a conquest victory isn't the plan.

If I try again I will go Mansa (or Peter maybe), if I am Mansa I will probably pick Wang Kon as my opponent since he is financial as well and protective won't be an issue.

1525AD in first attempt.

I was quite surprised about this:
I had 4 GP, two of them GS. I wanted to use one of them for my first golden age, by clicking one GS and one GA. My game ignored this and picked other GPs. So I could do only two golden ages instead of three.

You have to group them together like a stack of units and then select golden age to get the ones you want to do it.

1280:)
My capital was massive, over 700 beakers.
I like inland sea, good rivers and a nice mix of resources.
Asoka and Gandhi as AIs. I head straight for Alph, and even at settler I get alot of techs out of trade. Also, as the Indian leaders always pick up the early religions, it creates culture push back, and so you are not as likely to go over the domination limit.

Asoka stole my Oracle though:p , the cheeky bugger.

I came out of retirement since this one is so odd (being on settler) and shouldn't get me re-addicted. I also finished 1280 AD. My capitol was kinda pathetic--only 5 towns. However, I did have 13 cities! Three were free settlers from huts and 3 were captured from Roosevelt. I was nowhere near the domination limit. I also lost the Oracle 8 turns before I was going to use it for Fusion. I, too, go straight to Alpha. With 2 AI you get 4-5 techs. I chose Mansa and Roosevelt for opponents. With them I can get Hinduism after Alpha--good way to expand 2nd city's borders.

One more try on this one, but I doubt I will go below 1200AD.

Oh boy. I also submitted a 1280AD finish. :)

I played as Elizabeth on Great Plains against Mehmed II and Peter. I warrior-rushed Mehmed's capital, and built 2 cities on my own, total 4 cities. My capitol was a super-science city with cottages and specialists from Oxford, the rest were production mostly. No Aluminum this time.

I took CS with Oracle (another option was Education). I don't like delaying Oracle for later game techs since it saves 2-3 turns at most, while 8-10 turns on CS or Education.
