Spore Expansion: Galactic Adventures

(PM, can you put this on the front page?)

Should really make the Space Phase much more interesting, and like making creatures, I'm sure making adventures and planets will be a lot of fun.

I'm excited for this, but I still wish some of the content would work in the previous stages.

It sounds like a lot of fun- one thing I have wanted to do is more intimate-scale things in the space phase- the hologram scout is fun, but not interactive enough.

Sounds interesting. I'm curious if this addon will bring more replayability to the core game.

Sadly not, from MaxisCactus on the spore forums in a PM to me:

Hey FutureFilms,

We currently have no plans to release additional Spore mods. The main focus of this expansion is not on changing the core game, but on adding a layer of mission creation at the planet's surface.

Feel free to ask your questions in the forums, sometimes I don't get to one offs like these in private because it would be better to have everyone benefit from a response rather than just one, and I don't always have time to answer all the questions that come my way.

There are obvious limits to the adventures. The quest items and goal options aren’t advanced enough to recreate the entire plot of Lord of the Rings (although I wouldn’t put it past a Spore community member to try ‘til their blue in the face), but I’m almost sure you could do your own version of Super Mario Brothers

This quote makes me very skeptical of how versatile the expansion will be. I don't think I'd pick up another Spore-mess unless it gets 90% ratings on average. Will save my money for HL2:ep3 instead.

unless they cure the terrible space ages attacks on home base, it'll be a feature you'll never get to see,

maybe they might get less PMs if they stopped threatening to ban everyone.
morons.

Could be interesting. Worth a pop I think.

Hmmmph, might be okay, but really, I'm wary of spending any more on this game. I did play it a lot when it came out (took many species from cell to the end of space), but I suddenly stopped and never looked back...

Still, with the final version of the core game, Space Stage had, in my opinion, the most potential. You could just imagine all the things you could do in space... but weren't included in the game. Maybe this expansion could fix it. Really getting into a random planet you choose in space and terraforming it into details and showing it off, hehe. Well... We'll see. I doubt I'll buy it full price.

Like... beaming down to a patch of dirt with three rocks à la Star Trek!

EDIT: Still no flora editor... What? Money wh%&!s

I still am willing to see how this turns out. It seems interesting enough, but I"ll wait a bit before deciding if it's worthy to be bought.
