Hi, Sorry if this had been posted before but I've searched through the forum to read up on similar threads and found solutions. I've implemented those ideas/solutions but still the game crashes.

I've brought the graphics to the lowest setting, switched off the movies, froze the animations, re-installed the game (must have been at least half a dozen times), downloaded and installed patch 3.19, avoided huge and large maps, only added 2-3 extra civs, avoided Earth and Ice age maps, played around with the virtual memory in pagefile (though I'm not too sure how big I should make it), upgraded my RAM and video card.....and the game still CRASH!!!!

I've never had this crashing problem before (probably due to me playing mainly in standard-large maps) it's only after playing the game again (after a considerable time).

Any ideas how to solve this crash?

My video card and CPU ram are

Nivana 1G ram
2G ram

This is a great game, but the crashes are really irritating me!!!!

Sorry to sound moronic....and i definately dun mean to irritate you but I'm not so good with computers when it comes to programming and stuff....i'm more the 'have it and play it' type of user....know next to nothing when it comes to fixing things.

What do you meanby 'dxdiag' results file? Where can I find it to copy it in here?

Sorry again

on the windows desktop
click start
click run
type dxdiag
hit enter
in the program that opens
click save results
save the file to somewhere where you can find it
come back here
below the reply box
click go advanced
click manage attachments
attach the file you just saved
post something :)

really only the drivers (option 2) are what matters - though the control center is sort of nice if you want to fiddle with the graphics settings more (mostly for other applications though - for this game its pretty much unnecessary)

That's great thanks....will download them the moment I get home!!! fingers crossed, no more crashes!!

One last question, after setting my graphic card driver right, would I still have the problem with huge maps? Based on what I've got graphic cardwise + ram etc, should I still avoid those huge maps?

given your system there should not be too much of a problem to begin with - I can only assume that the graphics driver would help somewhat - unfortunately there are no guarantees
though there are other things to try if that does not solve the problems.

Still crashed!!! But at least it progressed further.....lasted for nearly 2 hours before the crash. I was playing Earth, huge map, 18 civs.....but with the lowest graphic setting and froze everything and switched off the videos.......am i only restricted to standard maps?
