Game Crash on Turn 63, and 63, and 63, and...

I had some problems last week with game crashes on standard-sized maps. I updated the drivers on my video card and everything worked fine.

Here's a new crash that I don't understand:

I'm doing a 2 person Hot Seat map (Small Map, China vs. Iroquois). China is going with a one city strategy. The Iroquois just started their 2nd city by the end of turn 62. Obviously, I'm very early into the game. I click onto Next Turn and the game crashes immediately.

This happens EVERY TIME.

The first time, I hadn't saved the game since turn 44, so I repeated my actions (as far as I could remember) from then, saving at turn 50. Crash again at 63.

Start again at 50, save at 55, crash at 63.

Start again at 55, save at 61, crash at 63.

Start again at 61, crash at 63.

5 crashes, all at turn 63. What do I do? I just bought the game 2 weeks ago, and I have no mods or anything like that. I'm still just experimenting with the game and learning. Are there some randomly-created maps that the game just hates?

We've found and hopefully fixed the problem. could you please post the save so we can verify?

Thanks much.

I'm also getting crashes every couple of turns. No mods here either. My drivers and laptop are up to date, using an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 on an Asus gaming laptop.

Attached is an autosave of a game wherein I'm playing Attila, play it for about 20 turns or so and it will likely crash. After my 3rd try reloading the save today, the game froze up after I clicked Next Turn. I couldn't click on anything, or move the cursor, though the globe was turning. So I CTRL+ALT+DELETEd out of there, and a window popped up saying Civ V had to close due to an error.

On previous occasions, my computer itself crashed (first in-game crash got me a blue screen of death, and now Windows 7 always takes longer to load than normal). Now it looks like in-game bugs just cause G+K to crash.

Could you check in the root folder of Civ V (where the EXE's are located) and let me know if there are any recent .mdmp files there? If so, if you could attach them here, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Apparently those file extensions can't be attached in this forum. Is there an email address I can send it to?

Not sure how to zip them....don't think I have any zip programs here, actually. :(

Recommendations?

Here's my saved file at Turn 61. You can click through to Turn 62 (no roblems), then on to Turn 63 (where it always crashes).

Thanks in advance for your help.

You could install 7zip, or use an external file hosting site like e.g. RemixShare (I just mention this site, because you don't have to register there).

Sorry the-J but only way dshirk will answer me dshirk check your private messages please sorry again for the intrusion.

There is a new update on steam.

I'm on the Civilization V page on Steam. Where do I find this update? The only one I can locate is from June 14.

Unless you went into the game properties in the steam library and turned off "auto update" steam downloads the update automatically. That is the problem people are having. You cannot just download any version of the updates. You can attempt to avoid them, but once they are downloaded you are stuck with that version, until the next time they automatically download one again.

I have similar problems myself with my save games, although on occasion it works and i can play another 20 turns or so before it start crashing again, and then another 20 turns again.

But this time it looks like my game has reached its peak, now crashing always on either on the leader screen or right when almost right when i enter the game. Very annoying, i'm on turn 852 now.

here's my dxdiag:

and here's my mdmp files:

Have you tried changing the leaderscreen graphic setting?

Well, I just got the latest patch to the game and tried to play, but the game crashed at exactly the same point (turn 63). Very disappointing. :(

tried it yesterday and everything seems to work fine now, atm. Think i am on turn 1060+ now(not at home now :p)

I'll post again if things seems to go bad later on
