game crashes without any reason

Game crashes constantly. It takes anything 1 minute to an hour between crashes, crashes are more frequent as the game gets further, in the end it crashes every second turn. There is no pattern, at least I havent noticed one. I didnt find the exact same problem on the site yet.

this is the error report:
AppName: civ4beyondsword.exe AppVer: 3.0.0.1 ModName: civ4beyondsword.exe
ModVer: 3.0.0.1 Offset: 005e4aab

Anybody have a clue what this is about?

You're not alone with that.
I'm having the same problem and can't find much information on it. A few other people have had it but no information for them either.
It's been in a few games already. Crashes completely randomly until it reaches a certain point (usually late stage turns between 400 - 500...) and then keeps crashing at a set turn no matter how many saves back I go or even if I do everything completely different until the turn, so I'm forced to start a new game due to not being able to continue. I tried a few suggested fixes already. I've got 3gb ram and a 512 mb graphics card so I shouldn't be getting those problems. Turning down graphics to low does nothing and already tried that.

The only solution that sounds promising is upgrading to vista 64 bit. Most people are saying those crashes went away once getting 64 bit, something to do with the 32 bit OS memory use limitations.
I remember when I had Vanilla+Warlords I wasn't getting this problem or any crashes at all. Also wasn't having the problem with BTS up until patch 3.13. After searching around online for a few hours it looks like BTS 3.13 seems to have introduced bogus hardware problems which the only 'fix' I can find is getting 64 bit. I think I'll just get 64 bit as soon as possible. Those errors are annoying.

Does that crash happen "between turns", like when you hit end turn... it goes black then dumps to desktop? Happens almost on-cue like every 10-turns or so?

Does more system memory help?

No, it can happen at anytime during the game even when nothing is happening. For example I left the game for few hours and when I came back it had crashed. Windows gives an error message and that´s it.

The funny part is that after I reinstalled the game few times, updated windows, chipset and bios the crashes disappeared, I still have no idea what caused them. I also removed two unused network cards, but I cant understand how that could have caused this problem.

At least you got rid of the problem. If other people have the same crashes it might be of help to them to try what you did.
