I'm having a weird issue where Civ 4 BTS loads about once every 20 times I attempt to load it. What happens is the Loading screen (where it says "loading..." and under that says loading in 6 other languages) comes up, but never goes away until the game crashes. The second loading screen doesn't ever come up (the 2nd loading = the screen with the Init messages and the percentage complete bar). When it does launch, there are not performance issues.
I'm running it on a Dell Latitude D620 with a gig of ram and decent enough graphics card, and besides, if my computer couldn't perform well enough to launch the game then it wouldn't launch the game 1/20 times. I know a thing or two about system resources, etc (im a network administrator by trade) so I can pretty much rule out any background processes mooching too much memory or processor time. Also, both Civ 4 and Warlords run great on it, and I've notived that BTS runs better than both of those on my other machine (a D630). Both machines are running Windows Vista. I have the 302patch.
Anyone seeing this on their machine? I'm lucky to have another machine to play it on, i'd be pissed if I didn't. 2K Games Tech support is pretty much worthless on this, also.
