Game "pauses" for 1-3 secs when accessing advisor screen, annoying.

For some reason the game sort of lags for 1-3 second whenever I try and access any of the advisor screens (such as the foreign advisor for instance). Sure, not gamebraking or anything, but vastly annoying when I wan`t to check something quickly. Anyone know what might be causing this, or perhaps a solution? I`m far and beyond the recommended specs (the game loads up very fast and the rest is smooth)

It`s the European version on Windows XP (SP2) btw.

Well i experience the same problem especially with the military advisor..
In my case i think it's my lack of ram (just 512mb) because the hdd starts working (=swapping).
Do you got such harddrive access?
It's especially annoying in multiplayer games, because the other get a user dropped message and have to wait for your 'return'.
