Game Ranger is an online client for hooking up online games. They support over 500 different games and provide a fee client that lets you see what games are out and available to join or to host your own games.

Today Game Ranger added Fall from Heaven II to its list of titles! Please go out and give it a try and let me know if you have any problems. After you install the Game Ranger client just press the host button and it will give you a list of all the games you have installed, including FfH, to start games with.

You can get the Game Ranger client here: http://www.gameranger.com/

Nifty :) Be quite interesting if it gets populated enough that people can pick up a game at random odd hours of the day/night.

Question I have though: Does it require updating on their end each time you release a major revision (folder/mod name changes)? And if not, how easily can it pick up modified versions?

Yes. I talked to the creator and he's all set to to make the change when 0.40 is released (I initially recommended they wait for 0.40 but he said it wasn't a big deal to change it next month).

Since 0.40 will be the last major version of FfH we won't need any directory name changes after that (I've been thinking about removing the version entirely from the mod name and just have it be Fall from Heaven II). Thats not to say that 0.40 will be the last version of FfH, just that we will be switching to a patch forever methodology after that.

Sweeeeet. Always wondered if I would ever get the chance to play FFH online.
Just another question though, does it support FFH+FF?

Nope, its just Fall from Heaven.

Nope, its just Fall from Heaven.

Just as a followup question, would it ever be possible, and if so considered?
This is more out of curiosity than anything, and I might be pushing xienwolf's agenda just a bit

wait... 0.40 is going to be the end???:suicide:

No.
Given the overall popularity of the "mod"/game (depending on viewpoint ;)) among both players and modders it more likely will be: The beginning! :)

(Seriously you can just view Ice as the final stage of the open beta. No need for despair should there be the slightest hint of seriousness about in post or in its readers minds about the matter.)

Yeah, FfH II is probably going to end at version 0.40, patch Ω, ת, or maybe औ

FF will keep going after that though.

Yeap, this is how I see it too. We are just coming out of the beta. Its a little sad in that it means we are pretty much feature locked. But it means that we can focus on the things that a feature lock requires (AI and documentation).

:goodjob:

Hurray!

Bad news, I DL'ed the game ranger, and not a single FFH game to see! I even tryed to host one, I sat there for about two hours and not a single person joined!

Er... I tried a similair thing. Having never played FFH2 Online, and with every game passworded I thought I'd give it a try... not a single server at all earlier today.

Not a big deal, I just thought a few more people would have tried it. :)

Well I'll make a game I guess as of 10:38 EST
