Game Saturn

Oh, crap - hit a wrong key by accident, and instead of moving my Settler, founded a city in a really stupid place (where I didn't want it). Could I please request a reload?

Sorry to be a pain. :(

Elucidus has reloaded the game; plako, you'll need to replay your turn as you were logged in at the same time as me.

Holy 18-point increase batman, I sense some sort of crazy tech trade between you and elkad. :p

argh! pointsfest?

Nothing major, just exchanging minor out-of-date techs. It's not a big secret or anything - I'm happy to trade with anyone who wants to trade with me. Problem is, I've only met 2 people so far. :p

I was referring to LordParkin's start. Only trees and three-food tiles as far as the eye can see! That's the way he likes em. ;)

It was pretty much a beeline. A few early cottages helped (I followed the route of our early research path in the main game).

I just wish I knew more people. Alphabet becomes exponentially more useful the more people you know. At this stage I'm still missing quite a few of the minor techs. ;)

Hah, yeah right. :p

I played my hand as best as I could, though. ;)

My second slave revolt event in 5 turns. :goodjob:

It's 1040 BC, the same date as the current CIV4 DEMOGAME. Interestingly enough, the player with the highest score at the moment doesn't come close to the team with the lowest score in the demogame - which happens to be us.

1040 BC (turn 74), turn 67 (1320 BC), 1880 BC (turn 53)

Smaller map for the demogame = inflated points (for population, etc)
Larger map for this game = fewer points

That's probably the main cause of the difference between the two games. It's not as if we're all playing worse in our game here, it's just that point values are higher in the demogame. ;)

Yep, the points you get are the same regardless of map size, so even tiles you own get you more points.
The first part of your sentence seems to conflict with the last part?

Elkad and Emperor are pretty much married at this point. :yup:

Blarg someone better be on the other side of these islands. :wavey:

 I'm sure everyone else will experience similar jumps once they start trading. Well, those who aren't on their own islands anyway. :)

No, I meant on a smaller map. The larger the map the less each tile gives you. Overall you can only get a certain amount of points.
Ah yes, I understand you now.
