Game Saturn

BLARGLEARGHBLEARGLE you all suck wah

OKAY FINE I CONTROL THREE CIVS TODAY :gripe:

Hopefully soon we can correct this problem

Well if Parkin wasn't disappearing FOREVER soon I would have no problem pausing the game until everyone gets back. It's very messy at the moment...

Also dang the kremlin is a great fun wonder, possibly my favorite after the pyramids and great library. Sorry there lesser city are you taking more than three turns to build that unit or building? That won't do at all! CONSTANT SUPERWHIP :whipped:

Not forever, but for a few months at least. A significant period of time, anyway. ;)

I quit the game, I can't play in a game with emperor. His miraculous ending his turn taking 2 turns to get computers then of course havign it the next turn, building the internet a turn ahead of when he should have...I can't play games with him.

I am not accusing him of cheating, lets just say i don't want to play in games where I am so 'overmatched'!!!!

that and the rest of the damned team left the game, what's the point.

Civstats is down, but the game seems to be running and next turn has started.

However, This probably doesn't matter much, if Elucidus is going to stop playing and hosting. Maybe a break would be in order to decide what to do?

Remember what your own team did before accusing us. Dux did the exact same thing (2 turns -> 0 turns for Computers) by switching a city or two with Clam for a turn. Our alliance had to urgently think of a way to speed things up as a result... we chose a Great Scientist. Nothing miraculous. :)

Forest chop and Caste System. Joshua sped up his Internet multiple times by forest chops too (and had Caste the whole time).

You guys haven't lost, no need to give up so early. :)

I think many of them are or will be back soon though...

Oh we need a new host, I refuse to host anything emperor is in.

Giger?

Game will remain for 72 hours.
Giger could probably host it. However, it'd be a shame for you to drop out at this late stage. Are you sure you don't want to think it over for a day or two? :(

eh? what happened?

eh? what happened?

You probably have followed conversation and know that world has been divided to 2 blocks (I'll call them here LP-block and Luc-block). LP-block has had small tech edge throughout the game. This situation lead to a tight race which block could build Internet first. Needless to say, but Internet was very important to both blocks.

LP-block did wake up for Internet race a bit late and were a bit behind most of the time. In the beginning Dux and Lord Parkin were competing for tech Computers. It seemed like Dux would get it 1 turn before Lord Parkin, but during the 2nd last turn of finishing it, Dux got little bit of extra beakers somewhere (probably Clamburger gifted temporarily cities) and was able to finish it 1 turn earlier than anticipated. LP-block decided to burn Great Scientist and bulbed towards Computers so that the 1 turn difference remained. After this it was all about best production city between Joshua and Lord Parkin. Both blocks did use all optimisation tools available e.g. Golden Age, chopping of trees, Caste system for better workshops, Moving capital to get capital bonus... Joshua had also small 10% bonus from state property and Lord Parkin was running Mining inc.

I don't know exact details, but Lord Parkin's city was a bit larger 19 vs. 14 and pretty much all of the workable tiles had hammers in them. Mining inc. was also in big role I suspect so that in the end Lord Parkin was able to finish Internet 1 turn before Joshua would have been able to.

The cities were size 18 vs size 14 at the time. Most of the difference was due to the fact that my Ironworks city was inland while Joshua's was coastal. Thus he had fewer tiles that could build workshops for hammers than I did. (Also I had a Dike on a river, which helped.)

In the end Joshua's Internet would take 6 turns from when he started it (with an average of about 350-390 hammers per turn, including two chops), while mine took 4 turns from when I started it (with an average of 500-540 hammers per turn, including one chop). So we thought it was vital that we got Computers no more than 1 turn later than the other alliance to give us the best shot at the Internet. Actually, as it turned out, we could have got it 2 turns later, because my overflow would have beat out Joshua's by at least 100 hammers had we finished the Internet in the same turn.

In the other game that Luc's referring to, I substituted for a guy whom Luc was attacking, and due to a couple of whips managed to kill a few units in his invading stack. I really would have thought that whipping was a fairly standard move when being crushed by an opponent, so I don't quite see the big deal. The person I'm subbing for is still in a crappy position, and Luc still very much has the upper hand in terms of his strategic position.

Hmm, I just realised something - the laptop I have has 3.19 but not 3.17. Probably too late to be able to fix now, so I'll be unable to play this game for the next week or so unless it switches to 3.19 (probably unlikely). I can possibly do a reinstall to get a dual install of 3.17 and 3.19, but it'd be a pain in the neck, and I don't have much time for it.

Given the amount of people away at the moment, perhaps we should pause for the week after all. Or else perhaps Plako could play my turns, if people want to press onwards (even though I'd much prefer to play my own turns).

Well, Dux came back, so the only person in our alliance currently away is Clamburger, and he'll be back after his vacation. Hardly "the rest of the damned team left the game".

Lost the Internet fair and square (though it was actually building research that sped dux up, not trading cities) and it's not a gamebreaking loss. As of right now it would give us two techs, one completely unnessecary (medicine) and the other detrimental. (mass media)

Our situation isn't optimistic, but not hopeless. I'll play my and Clamburger's moves when I get back from work... I would start looking at Giger or maybe Fosse to see if one of them can host.

I got fast answer from Giger and he is intrested in hosting and also replacing Elucidus.

Elucidus, could you send needed save files and login information to him?
