It seems when a leader tries to talk to you and wins (via Transcendence at least) you get stuck on the leader screen. I am not sure this is what is happening but he was close to winning this way (I was ~3 turns from winning via promised land). He pops up angry at dropping a satellite near him (did it in someone else's territory though) and I get a "We thought we were Invincible. We were wrong." audio and can not do anything else. The game is not frozen, just unable to get out of the leader dialog.
