Got my Gameboy Advance today! <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/tongue.gif" border=0> The screen seems like twice the size when you're playin, it's great. Highly recommended even if you aren't interested in the launch titles. Playing the regular GB & GBC games on its great with the wide screen option. Kicks ass, now all I need is a Civ game for my gba <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/wink.gif" border=0>

You do realize that Neintedo just copied Sega. Does anyone remember the Game Gear??? It was a handheld in direct competition with the original Game Boy a few years back. It looked similar. Big color screen. Backlight for playing at night.

And what does Neintedo do???? Several years after they crush their competitor with an inferior product, they copy it and call it their Advanced Game Boy system.

Corn did you even compare the stats?
8 bit Z80(same thing that was in the NES and GB) vs 32 bit RISC
160x142 screen (GBC was 160x140) vs 240x160
24K RAM vs 32K RAM 96K VRAM and 16K sound RAM
3.58mhz vs 16.7mhz
32 colors on screen vs 510 colors on screen
palette of 4,096 vs palette of 65,535

But really.....I know they the GBA is better. That's a no brainer. What I'm commenting on is the layout and the color screen of the GBA. The Game Gear has been around 7 years, so it's obvously going to use older technology.

But the fact that it used the color screen and an almost identical layout as their dead counterpart, as their "Advanced" system. I just find it really ironic. I'm not knocking you or the GBA, just pointing out the irony.

The Game Boy was a FAR inferior handheld system to the Game Gear....but Nientedo and their crushing advertising, and moloplistic practises, over shadowed this greater system. If the Game Gear had crushed the Game Boy (which I wish it had), I bet the Game Gear Advanced wouldn't look like a Game Boy.

And would be a helava lot better than the GBA because it already started from the superior product and design. Anyway....I sold my Game Boy a while ago and probably won't get a GBA. With a PC I don't see the point.

I refuse to buy another gameboy ever. They never outclassed any other product on the market, yet they outsold them two to one. They also could have put color screens on their product ten years ago, but didn't and waited just so they could have a monopoly on it.
