Gameplay comparison

So followup? I turned the old pathing back on, do you notice a difference? Has any AI's ceased contact with you yet?

I updated, should I restart the game (ugh not again! ) or will it be acceptable to keep playing from my last save?

I had one AI convince another to cease contacts with me actually. I don't know if they asked it as a 'favor' or if they payed them, but one AI got another to do so yes. I'd have to go back and check to see who it was asking and who ended relations.

You can keep going, but a restart would be more definitive :P

AI seemed to get off to a good start. Turn 30 and Khan already had two cities, and got his third shortly later.

Interesting note, but Shaka founded Judaism this time around instead of Hellenism, which I founded. That's a first

Something odd I noticed, but often I'll have two military and a settler on a Go To order, and every step they'll just halt like an enemy is nearby, but I don't see anyone. I did notice at one time there was a barbarian panther two tiles away but in the fog, so I couldn't actually see it and obviously my units couldn't see it - but it was still causing them to disrupt their Go To mission every turn
Or at least it seemed like that. Sometimes they can go on their merry way without being interrupted though.

I'm playing another test game and AI seems to expand faster with the new pathing system but I'll do some other test. As for cease contacts, nobody still forced that on me, but I've seen AI using it really a lot. AI is somehow behind in techs in my current game but I don't know if it depends on this cease-contacts ability or if it simply depends on the map. I'll test some more in this sense too.

Bit late with my 180 save but here it is.

What's with all the AI vassalizing to Gilgamesh? Only Churchill is actually near the guy, Ghandi and Khan are on the other side of the world

Turns 240 and 300 attached :)

Still hard to get Merchants out of the city governor, as well as some other odd decisions. I remember putting it to emphasize production earlier and it put two engineers and then the rest went into Diplomats of all things
City Gov. in IV was actually fairly decent, at least compared to III's. For general purposes, it was just fine. Since a few revisions ago though, it's been making a lot of questionable decisions when assigning specialists - like completely avoiding Merchents when supposedly emphasizing commerce (Though :commerce: also increases research, so that could explain it trying to hire scientists instead of merchants. Emphasize gold instead? )

I know that not everyone uses the governor, but for those few poor souls who do use it... If there's ever any free time and more important things aren't looming, a look into why it's taken a step back in recent days might be in order. Low on the priority list even but hey :)

I'm going to assume this testing phase is over now :)

Should I delete some of these save files to free up some of my attachment space or are they still needed?

Before this thread falls off the page, I'd like to resume this topic.

Is rezca or others interested in using the save posted in the first page and play testing? It would be a good way to sort of compare progress (or perhaps, the lack of it) since our last 100 revisions or so.

Yeah, same as i did time ago.

It would be useful that you set which parameters must be active, so that we all play the same and its easier to compare and analyze.

The save should have the game options already pre-set, so I think the default parameters should work.

With the latest revision I'm assuming? :)

Will have to update the SVN real quick before I can give it a shot though.

Isn't that before TRs were removed? Does it work?

Anyway, My free time is smaller now, but I got interested on the save you posted on the other thread and started playing it.

As we may see on the above picture, this is Afforess's situation on the save file posted in the other thread. What's interesting on this pic is that he has a single tile entrance to his small penninsula. I'm not sure in AND, but in LoR (and probably in BtS too) you may use it to protect yourself from any threat. I called it the Shield Glitch. If anyone want to know more about that you may ask me.

Anyway, I kept playing and another thing came to my attention: You weren't focusing your EPs on anyone. Most importantly, someone was revolting to you, right beside your capital, and you didn't start using spies on him.

So I did those things as you may check on my next screenshot of the game:

And then I started our revenge campaign:

And then the most unusual thing has happened. I razed the city and then passed the turn. When the turn began:

It's a cultural miracle city ruins!

Yeah, it's a city ruins with a lot of culture spread around it. Can anyone try to figure out how did this happen?

I'm playing rev 770 for this save.

Totally! Saves are forward compatible - There has been great effort to ensure saves from even 300 revisions ago should load. :)

Can you upload the save for that?

BTW, Rev 670? That is 100 revisions behind...
