i've actually gotten "the bad controller" before, but its kind of amusing because the button that stuck on the controller was the roll button, i was impossible to hit since i'd just, roll, roll, shoot

I've used that, but not as an excuse for bad playing. More as a warning as it was actualy TRUE. Have not used it so much with FPS but with AOM.

I have heard that one a few times. Although more often it's someone calling someone else mentaly challenged.

Was playing a free online FPS yesterday (Wolfstein : ET) yesterday, and a guy I managed to kill easily wrote me : "I was distracted by an insect on my screen"

Thought that was the most original excuse I ever heard

One I've heard (and used for real) I was reaching for a chip (or other food).

Also drinks have been used as excuses. Most of the time though ther person IS just standing there.
