Every time I play one of my games, they just drop back to the desktop, or the machine is restarting. I looked around in the technichal support manuals for some of my games and found out that my video card driver maybe was out of date. So I updated the driver for my graphic card. I have a ATI RADEON 9600 card and has the latest driver installed (v6.4). And it still doesn't work. Are there anyone who know what the problem is?

Some general infomation about my computer:
OS: Windows XP proffesional SP2
Processor: AMD Athlon XP 2100+, 1.7 GhZ
RAM: 512MB

Luddi VII problems!?!?!?!?!? Ram's ROTM cohort, I have a similar problem when I try to run the Rome Total Realism mod on my computer. It loads the first screen just fine, but it just stays there, and when I hit enter it just cuts back to the desktop.

On Topic: Perhaps you don't have enough RAM or maybe you don't have enough memory on your video card. That is one of the reasons I can't play Silent Hunter 3 or Age of Empires 3. It seems a little strange that a newer video card like that would have a problem with that though. But you never know.

If the comp restarts then it MIGHT be the fact that smthing (probably the video card) overheats in there... How's your cooling ?

Wrong place to look. Use Google and put in the name of the game, 9600 and the word "problem". That might well lead you to a solution.

Checking the website for the game never hurts - recent patches or similar workarounds for graphics cards or simply out of date games which need help from the Win 98 compatibility wizard or even a different version of Windows because it just won't work with XP.

I like to use something like Driver Cleaner Pro when removing basic hardware drivers (graphics, sound, motherboard etc). I couldn't tell you if it's always necessary but I've found it solved a couple of issues in the time I've been using it.
