So I wasn't quite sure where to put this, but thanks to a recent conversation, I was thinking about various games I had something "special", for, and I thought I would just post this here and see if anyone is as nerdy as I am.
So I'll start us off, and hopefully give a template for anyone else interested...
World of Warcraft: I started playing in April of 2007, and it was my first real MMO. Though I didn't do much raiding during Burning Crusade content, it was a great introduction, and I don't think I'll soon forget the first time I heard "Legends of Azeroth", especially when I was creating my first character.
Lord of the Rings Online: This came after I moved on from World of Warcraft in January of 2008. I happened to be quite lucky and ended up being a founding officer of what was my server's largest guild, which lasted for a year and a half before falling apart due to corruption and disinterest among the rest of the officer staff... Lots of good memories, though.
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind: This was my first Elder Scrolls game. I never really "got", it, but I loved it anyway. Music, to me, has a really big impact on the amount I enjoy a game, and this game had an absolutely excellent score. Kudos to the writers, and not even to mention just how in-depth and engaging the Elder Scrolls universe is, particularly the third installment which I maintain had the most interesting main quest. Graphics improvements may have come with Oblivion, as well as a less-arduous method of travel and in-game advancement, but I think I'll always like Morrowind best just for its atmosphere.
What games have you all really enjoyed, or changed your perspective on how games ought to be made?
