Gandhi AI never makes it to modern age.

In my current game, Gandhi is busily declaring war on everyone in sight.

I believe his first war was triggered when someone attacked one of his city-state allies, but since then he's declared war perhaps ten times... including against me, and I'm nowhere near him and have never attacked a city-state.

He's gone mad with power. The elephants... look at them all! Glory!

In my last game I finished Gandhi was in a war practically the whole game :D At some point just about all the city-states declared war on him. Ofc they didn't have almost any units so Gandhi conquered just about all of them even with me gifting units left and right (city-states are so stupid with the units...). I wasn't happy about losing two maritime allies.

I was expecting warmonger Gandhi to attack me anytime, but he never got to it. He was friendly with me the whole game and we did a lot of trading. However I was prepared in case he thought otherwise ;)

Wooow what a screenshot :goodjob: What was the difficulty? What victory you've won and when?

Ah, and welcome to the forums! [party]:band::beer::dance::king:

This is the first time I've ever read anything about Gandhi and subsequently though to myself "I fear we have awakened a sleeping giant."

Ironically in the 4 games I've played so far, Gandi is the only person to declear war on me (I'm not warmongering at the moment.). Cant even remember why, although I believe it was a case of me having little military and him being on my borders. Unfortuantely for him, I had a huge stack of gold as I was planning to drop a bunch of riflemen once I had the tech. Instead, I popped 4 musketmen and drove his entire army out of my lands, followed them out and took him down.

To be honest, most game in which I end up going to war start with someone declearing war on me, me getting annoyed at that and deciding to wipe them of the earth for even daring to look at one of my cities.

Thread link already posted, but I'll add the key point here:

Highest WarmongerHate: Ramkhamhaeng, Elizabeth, Gandhi, Washington
Lowest: Montezuma, Alexander, Napoleon

Highest Victory Competitiveness: Napoleon, Alexander, Bismark, Oda Nobunaga, Darius, Augustus
Lowest: Gandhi, Wu Zetian, Hiawatha, Ramkhamhaeng

City-State Competiveness: Augustus, Elizabeth
Lowest: Gandhi, Hiawatha, Alexander

Wonder Competitiveness: Ramesses, Nebuchadnezzar, Askia
Lowest: Montezuma, Washington, Gandhi

It should be quite clear that unless you are seen as a Warmonger then Gandhi is the least likely to attack you.

OFC it seems that the Warmonger trait is somewhat broken, with you picking up points when you shouldn't (such as defending yourself or a friendly CS).

Really? This whole thread... MADNESS!!

My first two games both had Gandhi... and he had the biggest army ahead of Oda Nubunaga and Montezuma around the time of 1200 AD. BOTH times he killed me except my capital...

I think I was the only one who had this. But even then, Gandhi hasn't attacked me in any other game I had him in.

One thing about leaders is that each game their traits are varied. From the previews I think they can vary up to +/- 2 points for each trait. I think that may explain why people have such different experiences. He could have a 1 in War and Military Training, but he could also have a 5.

this is a wargame, or at least for this time its 70 percent about war. No real diplomacy it go on chaos, politics our politic policy dont have an impact to other and so on, we go on in different road, walk our street just alone by ourself. or anything, except for war, in that thing, everybody connect in the house.

While Gandhi, as a leader, is a peace but radical leader. So if he engage a war, he will show the will of his nation toward peace by sacrify his worker into this ahimsa movement, not military. No wonder he never survive Monty or Oda Nobunaga wich is being fame by enemy of Budha, doesnt care about that kind of thing

If the leader change like in early civ 4, Asoka, maybe thing going on in a different path. But this is Gandhi, and he get his own unique way to fight the imperialism (and this game is about it, fight, then : puppet or raze), but sometime his strategy can be effective to spesific nation. Maybe like me. hehehe

Looking at Ghandi's AI traits we see the following:
WarmongerHate 7
Culture 8
Expansion 3
Military Training 3
Ranged 7
Affraid 3

So what Ghandi will be doing most of the time is going for a cultural victory with a small number of cities and a weak military. But then he'll get really angry with all the warmongers and he's fearless so that will eventually lead to a fight. And unfortunately for him warmongers tend to keep much larger militaries than him. To top it all off he also has a preference for ranged units which the AI is hopeless at using.

Where do you find the AI traits?
