Just wondering if anyone does any gardening.
Its another hobby for me other than civ games.
Last year we got about 100lbs of tomatoes from 15 plants.
Our garden plot is only like 10X20 feet so we limit ourselves. Last night my wife and I started our plants indoors. She wanted to start more flowers but I wanted more veggies.

Again, just wondering and what is your garden like.

When I saw that the last post came from scorch I started grinning even before I read the post. :)
Since I've installed a growing light in our basement, we've had the cops come by a couple of times from people reporting us growing pot. Doesn't anyone know the diffrence between tomatoes and pot??:crazyeye:

Heh. Theres a story of some lady tell her freinds how 'her son now has some nice tomato plants, he never used to be interested in gardening...'. :D

And that would be why some people "hide" marijuana in tomato gardens. :crazyeye:

I knew that people hid thier pot in tomatoe patches but here I was, growin 10 tomatoe plants, in an open window, with a grow-light emphasising it and they still thought I was growing pot? I'm not stupid. There are police cars driving by the front of my house at least 6 times a day as they drive from home to work. If I was doing that I'd try to be a little more discrete. If I were growing pot like that I'd have balls the size of king kong.

What you should do if you don't want people to bother you over your indoor lamp is throw thick balnkets over any windows in the room, make sure you are growing in your basement (police use thermal scanners to check for the heat that lamps give off) and if neighbors start complaining get your "tomato" distributer to hire one of his associates to neutralize them;). Oh, and if you are venting your growing room line the venting pipes with fabirc softener sheets (It will smell like laundry, instead of, well , tomatoes).

I don't have a garden here at college, but when I was living at home my family and I had a vegetable garden with sweet peas, green beans, cherry tomatoes, regular tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, strawberries, blueberries, pumpkins, and sunflowers. :D Gardening is fun, especially when it comes time to eat what you've grown.

I actually do Landscape Gardening. In my 'hood, if I planted a garden my Home Owners Association might ***** about it. Besides, we have tons of little cottontail bunnies that like veggies.
Anyway, I have to plant hardy things here in Texas. Even traditional southern plants and trees like Magnolias won't grow well here.

I have a rasberry bush in my back yard. I set my hammock up beside it in the summer and just pick'em and eat'em

The hood comment reminded me of when I lived in San Diego and a Cambodian family had turned the strip of grass between the curb and the sidewalk into a garden.
Thier whole propery was surrounded by thick bamboo and the interior had everything they needed to sustain themselves. From the outside the property looked like a fortress. :)

Back on topic, we're planting kidney beans this year for a try. We're also putting our cantalope and watermelons in old tires to help them grow. They didn't do well last year. We've also planted about 30 strawberry plants. We just hope they wintered well.

My current drounds do not have much area sutible for vegitable gardening (most of it is only suited by sun & soild for ornamental landscaping). The best thing to grow are thoses that are high prince but commonly low quality in store, like: tomatoes, herb, bell pepers.

I like growing indoor plants. I have over 75 in a one bedroom apartment. Unfortunately, said one-bedroom apartment has only a small balcony, so my vegetable garden is going to have to be herbs only.

Here's a webcam shot of my closest bookshelf.

 I think you need a bigger place! It looks like one of those Rainforest Cafés (a restaurant chain on the West Coast of the US). Kudos for trying to make do with what you have though :goodjob:

The only gardening I do is a certain little plant that I keep in the closet. ;)

I have a very small and good looking cactus by my window.
The good thing about it is that it both looks good and does not require a lot of water.
It's perfect for my country :D

thanks for the iniperation! i´m going to the florist tomorrow.:goodjob:
