Potaytoes?
Those leafs on the side and the flowers look similar...
Look at the pictures on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potato

Plus: potatoes originate from southern Peru, aka Inca-Land!

Edit: Nevermind. It's just spices. lol.

Can we say that the possibility of Machu Picchu being in the game is high after what we saw in the trailer?
We must keep in mind that a lot of things from the R&F trailer did not make it to the expansion. There was a Black Death scene that will actually be a scenario in Gathering Storm. There was also the first scene where it seemed like they were building a dam. Chateau Frontenac was on the cover art, etc. With all that, Macchu Picchu still makes a lot of sense, but who knows...

Some thoughts on the mound structure:
  • Could be a Mississippian mound, perhaps a unique improvement from a Cahokia city-state.
  • Could be a hill fort or oppidum, pointing either to a Gaulish civ or city-state.
  • Could be a berh, pointing to an Anglo-Saxon civ or city-state.
  • Could be a motte-and-bailey as suggested earlier.

Only 2 new styles of city architecture? So much for distinguishing the Civs.....
I don't know what else it would be.
Palaces might be different, but many Civs share city architecture: Georgia and Russia and maybe Sweden. I'm not sure about Hungary.
Ottomans might get the same architecture from Arabia, Persia and the South American cities already looked Incan. Phoenicia/Carthage might be North African.
And well Canada... or Noongar?
Anyway Maori and Mali make the most since out of the supposed Civs getting new city looks.

It could be that workers can now enter mountain tiles to build ski resorts and tunnels if they are improvements and not districts. I would guess that ski resorts are just like beach resorts, but just build on mountain tiles, so they would bring tourism based on appeal.

At first I thought it would be motte-and-bailey, but the shape is off. In motte-and-bailey the shape is at least usually round.

It does look like a motte-and-bailey.

Mali can share the same architecture as Kongo. If Firaxis is lazy enough. :p

Yeah I guess it could be Cahokia mounds wonder.

Here's a closer look, it's easy to miss the back half if you don't zoom in.

Maybe it's Cahokia Mounds as a world wonder?

The architecture of that temple is driving me bonkers. It looks like a mishmash of two different styles.

That doesn't look like it could come from Kongo.:p

When the Kongo palace art came out, I thought for sure it meant Mali/Songhai would be in eventually, given the Sahel adobe style. That said, I am not sure about the rest of the city art.

Anyway, I will take what I can get.

What's that thing behind the luxury resource in the third screenshot? right at the top, looks like a double dam in the ocean - but that can't be true, right?

Also Geothermal plant improvement is in the third screenshot.

There's a pool of water in the middle with water flowing out of the towers on the sides. The houses look mesoamerican or himalayan, but onion domes??

Power plants appear to still be the Tier 3 building in the IZ, but now there seems to be options.

This is the regular plant:

Then, there is this one. I guess that's the Coal Power Plant.

Then, there is this new Improvement, probably the Geothermal plant.
