General Knowledge Quiz

Yeah, Al Gore must be correct.

I don't who the other one could be though, but I guess he/she won the peace prize as well.

Although David Guggenheim was the one to receive the Oscar for 'an inconvenient truth', Al Gore (Nobel Peace prize) has sometimes been credited with the honor of receiving both, by association.

Last time it happened was roughly 70 years ago.
And this one was a recipient of the Nobel prize in Literature.

I see that you have it, feel free to post the answer and the next question. :goodjob:

And just to be clear, he is in fact the ONLY one to have won both an Oscar and a Nobel prize, since Al Gore didn't get the Oscar himself. But it is a good trick question methinks.

George Bernard Shaw, who got the oscar for Pygmalion.

Question : Napoleon's imperial guard had several different regiments and bataillion. One of them was created in 1811, with the incorporation in the Guard of the "pupilles", i.e. orphans, children of officers killed in action, etc.

The "men" of the "pupilles" regiment were aged 10 to 16, and numbered as many as 9,000 and the regiment was commonly named "Guard of the King of Rome".

Now... The question... The uniform regulation including a funny rule. Which one?

They had to wear the uniforms of their deceased fathers? :p

They would not fit in it given given their age...

And they were not all sons of killed soldiers.

The regulation is quite logical, although not necessary (i.e. not writing the regulation would not have change much)

I think it's a bit strange that they called it "Guard of the King of Rome". King of Rome? Has it something to with that?

The king of Rome was the son of Napoleon. But it's not related to that.

@Rik : I hope your parents were not to hard with you when you were still wetting your pyjamas when age 10 to 16, but that's not because you faced such trouble in your youth that it should be generalized.

And it's not about something they had to wear, but about something they didn't have to wear.

Well, you said they were aged 10-16, and at that age, your feet are still growing, so they'd have to keep getting new shoes.
