General Turn Discussion

Well before the game kick out this is what we did:

LB CGII (who can be promoted to a LB CGIII next turn) moved N onto the hill. He was at 5.9 :strength: took no damage in his fight. He went here so If Kaz go NW with the Mace & 2 cats (visible in that pic) that we can defend.

The Other LB was at 1.9 :strength: and was a combat I, he has a promo to use next turn. This LB needs to get shock and go to DT to defend from that spear.

Achilles Died.

Waterstof is at 5/5 :strength as we can see i nthe pic.

Our Spearman moved N of TKY to defend the workers on the road.

The Other Spearman ended up with 3.3 :Strength: and 3/2 xp.

1 Chariot withdrew. the other is dead :(

Workers 1N of TKY can get protected by the spear in TKY, which is safe from attack this turn and hence needs no defences.

Waterstof we can leave there undefended. If Kaz attack (and they have...bad...odds) then they have nothing to defend the cats with, and will have an injured mace most likely. That's a decent trade IMO, so I'd leave him out as a sacrifice and see if Kaz . .. .. .. . up.

Sounds like a solid turn. Maybe now we can end this war and get set the counter attack in 10 or so turns.

Once this turn is finished one way or another that's something we need to decide. We've survived the past 3 turns thanks to Memphus being an insanely talented programer and mathematician, now we actually need someone who is a talented diplomat to stand up and chat with Kaz if we decide we do want peace. Me and Memphus aren't exactly going to be decent contacts anymore, there is probably to much animosity between both sides.#

I'm not saying that we should want peace, mark you, just that we ought to consider it.

We killed 2 maces, a HA and an Elephant...

and lost a chariot and an axe? A medic axe, at that. Well done, Memphus!!

If we were to talk to kaz, what would we offer? No further expansion south of zero or west of TKY, not using the artist to bomb those cities, in return for them promising not to bomb our cities and not expanding north or east of TKY? They can expand west as much as they want? And, of course, we'll stop killing their units ;)

Me, I'm fine with peace - the barb spearmen really point out to me that we need more cities or fog busters or something.

My guess is that Kaz withdraws - 1 mace and 2 cats can't do anything useful but get killed.

snip.....

Have to agree with AT here....

Unless they have a bunch of HA's very close, they will withdraw.

Anyone know how the General is doing with his new business? We could use his expertise at this point IMO.

And an LB.

So that's 115 hammers from us for 290 from Kaz this turn.

170 hammers for 730 since the start of the main attack

and 235 hammers for 820 since the start of the war.

And we've pushed forward with our cities.

TBH I don't quite know what the **** happened over the past 25 turns...

So one more Thing I didn't mention (it will be in the turn update)

We are at 55/60 GG points again

TKY doesn't need a unit this turn it is safe, as such no GA is needed. But at the same time if we build something we lsoe the flexibility of a GA next turn (PS) and gettign a rush unit.

So what is the solution?

Build :culture: a very solid use of this tactic (and getting music)

1. we get that tile back from Kaz.
2. we get LoS into that city.
3. It slows the retreat of the Cats & Mace and hence we can attack next turn ad get those 5 XP GG point.

Thoughts?

That sounds VERY good.

The overflow hammers get saved, giving options later.

Who is running the Kaz war department...that was a total mess.

And Kaleb asked me in game "who won the bet", on where they would move. I missed that debate somehow, and told him so.....but I don't think he believed me.

Heh. Indiansmoke, who is a ladder player. Currently ranked 91 in MP ladder, highest rank was 44...

That's not impressive...I used to be up in the top 10 when I played regulary...pre BtS though. He's not even following standard MP play though, it's like they are playing an SP game, then when we showed up on the front door they switched to an MP strat to try and stop us...but without the necessary growth to slave out the army they built just seems totaly inadequete.

PS. On Kaleb...did anyone actually expect them to move in such a stupid way? In retrospect they should heave moved everything into 1 stack next to Zero this turn, then move to TKY next turn. But oriinally I thought they would either attack TKY, or move the forward stack onto TKY and move the small stack next to Zero, using the HA as an additional threat to TKY. It wouldn't have worked all that well though, because we'd have still killed the forward stack, but the HA might still be alive.

So I'd call it a mulligan. I think I agree that they'll retreat this turn...

oh, and the really cool thing? We are top on soldiers with 192k, second is 176k...which is Cav

thing is that if they had moved 1 stack of all the units we killed, plus the mace and cats, we'd probably have lost Zero by now - we would have hit them with a cat or two, but they would have shrugged that off. it's really that we were able to heal up some of our guys that we were able to take out both stacks. heck, if they'd just kept all those units together this time, they'd probably just have a lot of hurt units, and we'd have a lot fewer.

Yup. I wonder what it was that made them rush the attack...either they direly underestimated our ability to defend, or grabbing Music spooked them into attacking fast while they still had control of the roads, IMO.

yeah....but they forgot something I didn't. and I even told them in a chat once...

the game tells you about it.

Using Longbows on Offence. just because the AI doesn't do it, doesn't mean it isn't a slick move!

I would offer to do the diplo but will be pretty limited until Sunday evening. I don't get their attack strategy by not stacking. I keep waiting for the other shoe to fall but I'm thinking they don't have anything left.

I will say this - on the initial attack, we won two low odds attacks (Goud @ 10% and Waterstof @ 32.6%). If we lose those, this entire invasion by kaz looks different - we would still have beat hell out of that stack, but we might not kill it all and we have 2 fewer defenders - including a full-strength Waterstof sitting there.

This round was a lot more reasonable - we lose 3, they lose 4, but one of the ones they lost was a spear on an HA, so you expect them to lose that one.

When we build heroic epic, is there anyway to change the name of the building to "Heroic Axemen Epic?"

I don't think we should push for a counter attack. Defending is much easier than attacking, especially with the tech advantage they've got (maces), so it'd probably only lead to losses for us. I could see us do a small attack on that city S of Zero, but that's probably the biggest we can do.
Instead, I think we should get our focus back to expanding and infrastructure.

Er...apart from CK, everything has been on infrastructure and expansion for the entire war anyway...

TKY, Zero, and our workers chopping near those cities were focussed on the war effort too, weren't they?
