GeneralMatt's Creation Thread

GO: :p

WW2Commander: Ok, I will look into it, one problem though with bit's and bobs is upping the poly count. We will see how it looks ingame.

SoG: Ohh, stellar ship. I will see if I can do it eventually. ;)

Yes, indeed. I doubt I will grow tired, but as a break either way. ;)

Edit: I am going to be busy at least one night in the next few days. Thanks to Wolfshanze for telling me about a certain movie, I ordered "A Bridge Too Far" and it came in in only 3 days! So I cannot wait to watch it. :p

A Bridge Too Far!

Absolute classic movie....also recommend The Longest Day if you have not seen it. Its black and white but I did see a re-coloured version on VHS once.

VHS....you remember those dodacky thingamobob box things....they used to make them during the olden days when the west was yet to be settled and and Queen Victoria still ruled

My goodness, why would anyone want to watch The Longest Day IN COLOR?! :p It's beautiful as-is!

And GM, does the :p mean you will or will not make a Yorktown carrier? :D

ww2commander: We still have a few of those VHS thingies, still useful for taping shows and stuff!

GO: Well, hmm. Probably eventually, but at the moment I think there is more pressing things..

DP II: Is that a request? :p

Wolfshanze: Did not take too much convincing once I heard what it was . :p Can't watch it tonight though, it is 11 PM and my parent's don't want me up watching it until 2..

Whenever you get tired of doing WW2 stuff you can do the Amazon girl and/or the Arsenal Ship as a break. :)

I would absolutely love this as well, the Arsenal Ship! Yeah!

Anyway a modern missile cruiser to match the era of the Stealth Destroyer in game is pretty much missing.

France:

Pre-Dread: Jauréguiberry or Charlemagne
CV: Béarn

This Courbet?

To carry on our discussion from the other thread, I would like to do at least one ship of each country that does not have one so far. So Italy, France etc.

This Courbet?
Yes Matt... that Courbet!

If indeed you guys are talking about the Courbet class dreadnought (French), I've got that one covered.
Well, you see, there's our problem Snafu! If you don't release what you have, and don't tell anyone, other folks may-well make what you've already done.

It's kinda like the Doomsday Device in Dr.Strangelove... it's only effective if you tell people about it!

Please release the Courbet Snafu! Set it free!

Any other surprises in the naval department Snafu? Might help us to know if you have already created what we have on our list of post #395 in this thread!

Having said that, Matt, you need to press-forward with the Tegetthoff after the Russian Battleship... or did you already do that too Snafu?

Oh duh, I was looking for a Pre-dreadnough Snafu, no worries. ;) I just looked under the wrong title (And was wondering why they still had redreadnoughts in '13, then I figured, hey they are the French).

Actually many Pre-Dreadnoughts served with pride in WWI (just like WWI Dreadnoughts served with pride in WWII).

The Canopus, Majestic and many other Pre-Dreadnoughts all served and fought in WWI.

Having said that, we need some French, Italian and Austrian Pre-Dreadnoughts, just to get started!

Yes, what got me wondering was that the blueprints were entitled "Courbet 1913", so I figured that maybe it went for a refit. :p

Snafu, if you are planning on doing anything, it automatically takes precedence, my stuff is still not nearly what you have accomplished yet.

I didn't mean I'd already completed it, only that it was on my to-do list - as a warship from WW1, it's automatically on my list... that's probably the best way you guys can tell if I'm going to make something at this point. I've been focusing on land and air units for now, so nothing new to report.

I've also released all non-ww1 units that I feel are releasable. There are a couple things I've kept back because they aren't good enough to post - so you guys don't have to worry about making something that I've already done. At this point the only units that I'm keeping in Blood and Iron are those made specifically for that mod.

So you plan on making every single warship that ever served in WWI? That's a lot of ships Snafu... and that would include a lot of Pre-Dreadnought Battleships too!

Would you care to narrow the list down, or do you literally mean every single warship from WWI is on your "to-do" list... also, if this to-do list is really that long, how many years before the list is completed?

Sounds like nobody has even started the Courbet (Matt, Snafu... anybody). Snafu, I don't mean to sound strange, but I've always wondered how long it would be before your WWI mod would be "complete"... seeing as how I know you take your time on each model (you do excellent work), and if you're making most of the models for the WWI mod yourself, that's a HUGE commitment of time and numerous models that will all need to be made.

I'm not a fan of duplicating work (like the whole "how many Ju-87 Stukas do we need" thread)... but conversely, I'm not a fan of preventing work because it's on a "to-do" list that neither has a timetable (that we are aware of) or may not be released seperately because said model is waiting for 50 other models to be completed before it's released as a whole in the WWI mod (which itself is a huge question mark as to release). At least with Matt... he usually releases a model within a week or two of starting (if not sooner) and when it's done, it's released.

Snafu... you do great work... LOVE your models! The only thing is, with this WWI project, you do hold back models (and that is certainly your right to do)... and when you lay-down a blanket statement like "if it's a WWI ship, it's on my list", well... what are we to do on this end if we want something that you haven't started and we have no idea when that model will see daylight?

Not trying to start any kind of "turf war" like "that's my ship... no, that's my ship". Matt's just trying to fill holes that are missing... and out of all the WWI ships that are out there in the world, we've seen ONE ship from Snafu (the Helgoland) recently... mighty fine ship it is, but we don't have a list of what you've completed of WWI ships, when they'll be done, and most importantly, when they'll be released.

Matt's just trying to fill holes... I know Snafu has a "vision" of how his models should look and will more then likely make every ship he wants in his mod himself (even if said model is available elsewhere)... me... I'm not that choosy... I'll just grab whatever model I can to fill a hole.

Okay... I realize I'm rambling now... let me summarize before I write a novel...

Snafu... super-cool guy... makes GREAT models... never know what he's working on or when it's going to be released even if it's done... no problem with that, it's the way it is, but the world moves on! (Respect Snafu like crazy, let's make that clear!)

Matt... just wants to fill holes... releases as soon as they are done... actually makes models Wolf requests (a rarity!). Puts-up with Wolf's incessant complaints and perfectionist model tweaks (even bigger rarity).

I'd like to say, can't we all just green-flag whatever model folks want to work on? Snafu is like the Skunkworks of this board... Makes super-cool stuff, but a lot of secrecy over what's actually being worked on, and when it will be public is just as big a mystery!

What's the answer?
