Genetic AI Project

Man, its working now in background with AI3, but give me some light plz..(dumb questions comeing):

How do I upload the results and what are the files fdor that? And how I can stop the automatic AI play? And if I stop I can put it on again? How I pause the game?? And, you said after the game end they go automaticcly to next game??? And how I stop that? T.T

A promt should come up when the result set is done. I would suggest uploading them either to the forum or emailing them to me (address is in the promt). There should be three files. AIData.txt, OldAIData.txt and DeadAIData.txt. I'll probably condense these into one in time, but at the moment there are three.

CTRL-SHIFT-X again.

Probably. Teg reported above that he hit an problem where he couldn't, but I've never hit that myself.

Switching off the automatic play should do this. If you have the cheatcode in the .ini file (see stickies in main forum) you can then play around it debug mode (CTRL-Z).

You... errr... can't at the moment. I'll put it on my to-do list.

What the heck you mean that I cant? ? T.T Gotta do ctrl+alt+del then since you said save games are useless? T.T
Or of course ctrl+alt+x and go out of the game..<ye im so dumb :P>
Hum,is that so? lol

Yup. CTRL-SHIFT-X and leave the game normally.

Ok thx! as soon as this game finish I send for you the files by the forum! Im playing standard map size, noble(it prob dont change anything no?) and with the space race victory off cuz as I readed they will learn to play in my setting of game no?? And I just hate the fact that AI only goes to space race, I hate space race -.-

Anyway thx for all the info and this project sounds great!

Edit*****

Omg its going fast like hell in the background, I checked now and Im already in the end of the second game when I thought I was in the end of the first LOL!

Well I awoke to this interesting scene this morning. Montezuma having taken over nearly the entire world (see pic).

Ooops. ZeroDivisionErrror. Never good.

Okies, that's a big 'un. Will fire every time somebody gets wiped out. Next patch is on it's way. It shouldn't be dividing anyway - should be multiplying.

EDIT: Ok... fixed. Current datasets should be fine, it's just an error caused by saving.
Glad that's fixed, I was having the same problem as you can see.
There still seem to be some problems with the automation mode. I just finished two games and a third one started, but alexander appears on the score board with -24 points. Also, "waiting for other civilizations" doesn't disappear and I can't turn the automation mode on again.
I've had this same issue with "waiting for other civs" after a game is finished. One thing you can do is hit CTRL-ALT-Z which apparently changes the players (it will say "Alexander, it's your turn", etc) until you arrive at a player where the End Turn button is not missing. I've done that a couple times.

Also, when games restart, they appear to be starting with the wrong game speed. I let it run 3 games overnight (and then the Montezuma game continued to run until 2600 AD) but the games came out with speeds Epic (which is what I started with), Normal, and Quick.

I haven't seen any prompts and I hate to tell you but my DeadAI and OldAI files are 0 kb blank documents despite having run 4 games. It is recording things though because when I am at the AI selection screen, it's clear I've played 4 games since the results are shown for all the AIs.

Good idea. You will have to have debug mode on for this to work.

That's the way the AI tester works. I have it set like that to get a nice random spread of games. Given lots of different machines are running it now I think I'll remove that randomization - it should also randomize sea level, climate and Civs. (I'll leave random Civs in).

That's fine. In a perfect world they'll stay at 0. DeadAI is for AIs which have been trimmed early for being absolutely terrible, and OldAIs.. actually isn't needed come to think of this. Made it obselete. I don't need that file :P

Man, I got a accident in my pc(my gf fault lol) and had to ctrl+alt+del(it was in begining of third game)..Anyway I didnt see any prompt in the end of games, does it maybe appears only forl ike 5min? Cuz I may have lost it then lol
And like the other guy, the deadAi and oldAi are empty, 0kb and also trackAidata is empty..AIdata is 102kb, is that one the one you need??? Tell me :)

There are quite a few games needed before the prompt comes up. If you're playing 7 players a game it should take about 20-25 games.

LOL ehm, whole day playing xD Sorry that my gf made me shut it down lol, anyway I still should send that info or nvm?
I see if later or tomorrow I let it running again anyway

So in the current version is it not ok to save and then resume it later? Because its kinda difficult to just have it run for 30 hours straight or whatever.

Exactely what I thought..In the first place I was wanting to let like 10 games running..You really should fix it!

That's not what I meant by you can't save it. After every game it makes a save, and you can pick that up at any time by just running the mod again. You cannot save it in the middle of one game and continue from the middle of the game - you have to restart that particular game.

This has implications if you actually want to play against it, which is possible.

You mean that if I run the Mod again it will have these 2 games I played saved and the AI added to the next games??

So I better restart the game later and I send for you the file only when the prompt appears? :P

Ok, thats good to hear. I'm still a bit confused though.

Do we need to manually load up the save it makes at the end of a game, or is that done automatically? If its done automatically would that mean that on each new session we should just start a new game?

Thanks :)

How demanding is the background mode? I run Civ4 and AdobeCS1 with up to 200MB files without problems. Is your mod using more resources than vanilla?
(3Ghz DualP4, 2GB, GF6600)

It's all done automatically. Basically it updates AIData.txt with the changes, and then when you load up the game it loads that file with the changes applied. You don't have to do anything special.

Yes. I would say this mod increase memory usage by 5-10% as well as being more taxing on the CPU. However, when it goes into background mode the process priority drops to below normal meaning that it consumes only CPU power which isn't being used elsewhere.
