I used to play KOEI's excellent strategy games, of which my favourite by far was Genghis Khan II.
It was a game set in three continents, with many different factions, a game of diplomacy, trade and finally war.

I would be interested in re-creating (and improving) the concept for civ3.

But if i decide to do this i will need help, and a lot of it.

I can do all of the static gfx by myself, but i want to work on the rest as little as possible.

So volunteers to help would be great.

Here is a pic from Genghis Khan II:

First i will need someone to expand Artemisarrow's great map, to include all of the north, habitable, Eurasia.

Download this map from http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=97674 and use maptweak to expand it, then place accurate terrain.

So, that is all for now. Anyone interested in helping? :)

Great :) I don't really know if new units are needed, much less asian ones, but i know next to nothing about asian history of the period so help with what is historical would be nice as well.

The culture groups probably will be like this:

Eastern europe
Western Europe
Muslim world
Oriental world
India

I am not sure when the scen should start. I wont name it Ghenghis Khan, so there is no need for it to be set in his reign's time.

A good date might be 1300, so as to have the ottomans as a playable nation (there so as to be crushed by the Byzantines that is :D ).

I am also thinking of using an excellent civ2 idea, that of uniting all of the smaller factions into a neutral civ, which is there so as to serve as a block of expansion of the great powers. The neutral civ will only autoproduce units from buildings, so as to have different units in different areas of the map. This way there can be 15 civs in Europe, or a bit more, and there isnt any need for all the civs.

So in Europe there could be the following civs:

Byzantine Empire
Serbia
Bulgaria
Castille
Aragon
Portugal
France
Brandemburg
Teutonic order
Denmark
Austria
Sweden
Poland
Hungary
England
Kipchak horde
Some russian civ
Neutral (the rest)

HRE is in the neutrals, because if it is a nation it could be too powerfull and ruin the game with ahistorical conquest.

Recruited :)

In northern Africa there will be:

Egypt
Morroco
Neutral (the rest)

In Asia minor:

Ottomans
Trebizond

Armenia could be included too, if there are any civs left.

Rest of Asia therefore can have 10 civs...

Ok, so here is a possible list of civs:

Europe 17 and neutrals

Byzantine Empire
Serbia
Bulgaria
Castille
Aragon
Portugal
France
Brandemburg
Teutonic order
Denmark
Austria
Sweden
Poland
Hungary
England
Kipchak horde (golden horde)
A russian civ
Georgia
Neutral (the rest)

Hre will be there as a neutral civ.

Africa 2 and neutrals

Egypt
Morroco
Neutral (the rest)

Asia 11 and neutrals

Trebizond
Ottomans
Korea
Japan
Sultanate of Delhi
Bengal
Khmer Empire
Yuan
A chinese civ, to represent rebellion in the mongol chinese provinces
Chagatai
Dai Viet
Neutral (the rest)

Il-Khanate will be there as a neutral civ.

Currently i only have the civ list. Could you write something about them? I think (havent played civ in years) that you can edit the text that appears in the first turn, about your chosen civ?

If so, you could copy some articles from wiki, or find something else :)

That is great :)

For asian lhs, do you have any to suggest for the oriental civs?

In general i would try to use whatever already exists, unless someone wants to make a new one.

No one? :(

As for civs, i totally forgot about Italy. So i am thinking of taking out Trebizond, and having either Papal States, or Sicily in.

And i think that sicily is a lot better, since the Papal states can function as the capital of the neutrals, and have some very strong defenders in.

I've started on the civilopedia for the civs. What year will the scenario start? Is it to be in 1300?

Do any people want to fill in the map with cities of the areas they know about? (in this period).

I filled in the northern part with terrain, although it is not final yet, and started placing the cities in the byzantine empire.

Since the map is vast, there should be quite big spaces between the cities so as to not go over the 256 limit.

Currently the theodosian walls are there as barricades, but i might make a special terrain connecting them.

Yes, this was just a testing picture, i havent put any other civs in.

But im afraid that we will need another map, since this is utterly huge, and the 256 city limit will not allow for more cities, making the map very sparce in its town placement.

Edit: i looked around for different maps, but couldnt find any i liked. Perhaps this should be the one...

I think that this project should be put on hild, untill more people (if that happens) join so as to help. Since it is too huge to be worked upon by just three :)
