Genuine stupid newbie questions

Two, to start off.

In the forum search page, on the extreme left, is an envelope icon which I assume represents the relative 'hotness' of a thread.
What values does each icon represent, and what causes them to vary (posts per hour ?)

In the game, a brief description of my Civ is followed by three bracketed numbers. Eg English - Democracy (4.4.2). What are they informing me of ?

Why can't my warriors beat mech infantry when the AI's can?

WarlordMatt - sorry, I genuinely don't know the answers to these questions and I hoped someone could answer them. The thread name is meant to be ironic and a reference to an earlier, genuine 'fake newbie questions' thread.

For the first question, check the bottom of the Gen. Disscusions forum page for the symbols and their meanings.

For your second question, I dunno, I never really pay attention to that part of the info box.

The first question has been dealt with, but for the second I can only assume that these figures represent the percentages that your sliders are set for when dividing up your trade income. This is purely based on knowledge of Civ 2, mind, but I will bet that the numbers always add up to 10 and in the example you gave, it would mean that you have 40% taxation, 40% science and 20% luxuries.
