Probably better then further crowding the v11 thread, as those issues are only interesting for a part of the players.

I had a quick look at it after installing the new version. Overall very good :goodjob:

Observations:

1. Whenever I change/change back the language in game, I get a python exception
2. The techtree screen does not immediately update to the new language - the techs only changes their names if you click them on by one or if you start a new game
3. Some minor spelling errors/missing translations:

- "Scoutpatrouillie"
- Datalinks, Planetfall-Konzepte, Der Blütezähler: "Da Spieler unter der Hybrid-Gesellschaftsform keine oder nur wenige Farmen besitzen, schaden der Blütenzähler ihnen nicht" [whats better "Blüte-" oder "Blüten-Zähler"? - I'm not sure, but it should be probably consistent]
- Datalinks, Planetfall-Konzepte, Der Blütezähler (zu Effekte): "Someone else may want
to write that out here, if you want to"
- Datalinks, Planetfall-Konzepte, Gelände, Felsig: "Can't construct Magtubes here"
- further additions from patch d)

Unless something major is encountered while playing with the translation, I think it is ready to be posted on the German forum - since Planetfall is a work in progress, the translation will be always one patch behind, so that shouldn't stop us.

I played now into a game and encountered only minor issues, so I will later post the thread on civforum.de.

More findings:

- "Worst enemy of" in the diplo-hoover gets translated into "schlecht feindlich von X"
- The EB civic is translated as "Abgekapselt" - wouldn't sound "Geschlossene", "Getrennte" oder "Isolierte Ökosysteme" better?
- Log Message, when a SP has been finished: "Das Geheimprojekt XYZ wurde in einer unbekannten Fraktion errichtet..." -> ...von einer...
- Unity Pod result: "Die Unity Kapsel hat eure Einheit mit Erfahrungen ausgestattet" Overall, not a really atmospheric thing - but sadly it is hard to fnd something short to explain why you get experience from opening a storage pod
- A non-translated Xenobiology effect: "Can work fungus tiles"
- "Meeresfungus" ---> better "Seefungus"?
- "Wasserwerk" ---> "Wasserkraftwerk" ?
- "Fraktion" ---> "Gruppierung" ?

I assume this does not occur in vanilla Civ?
I don't think I'll be able to find out what's the problem though. :-s

I recommend WinMerge to find the differences between the text files of different patches.

Ah, good catch, I think the singular fits better, it's the flowering of the Planet itself, I'll try to keep it consistent. For the Python exceptions... no clue here, not sure whether it's due to the text files or something else (I only switched the language outside an active game). :sad:
"Worst enemy of" in the diplo-hoover gets translated into "schlecht feindlich von X"
Huh, weeeird! When I checked, I saw a "Erzfeind von...". I don't think that's even a string that is changed in the Planetfall-text files ("worst enemy", at least I could find it with a full text search by notepad++). Are you playing with the German community translation?
- The EB civic is translated as "Abgekapselt" - wouldn't sound "Geschlossene", "Getrennte" oder "Isolierte Ökosysteme" better?
My original translation was along these lines, but it's too long (see screenshot), so I tried to find a single world for it and then tried to keep it similar to the other ecology civics (which are all adjectives).
- "Wasserwerk" ---> "Wasserkraftwerk" ?
Will need to ask once you open a thread. I wanted to keep it a bit open (as it could be interpreted as general water processing plant as well), since it provides you with fresh water as well.
- "Fraktion" ---> "Gruppierung" ?
Wasn't that used interchangeably in the original German SMAC game? But in any case, it should be kept consistent.

Everything else, good catch, I'll work on it.

Cheers, LT.

"Grösster Feind von (/der - if it's a Faktion)".

- The EB civic is translated as "Abgekapselt" - wouldn't sound "Geschlossene", "Getrennte" oder "Isolierte Ökosysteme" better?

Last one is best/most clear.

- "Meeresfungus" ---> better "Seefungus"?

Meer = sea, See = lake.

- "Fraktion" ---> "Gruppierung" ?

I like that (although Fraktion might also do, as it's also used in a political sense in German).

Hmmm... any other suggestions?

Nothing, what i could imagine, sounds really good.
Maybe a more free translation is better.

For the record, changed default text tags can be placed in TextReplace.xml

:D
Sure. Just wanted to say, that L_T did not do that horrible translation.

Meer = sea, See = lake.

It's not that strict in german.
For seafaring we say "Seefahrt", the translation is not wrong (only seems so at a first look).

That still doesn't make Seefungus better than Meerfungus. (I don't think you'll find many biologists who would use Seefungus to describe sea plant life. Better to avoid confusion, no?)

I tried to see how stuff fits - and "Isoliertes Ökosystem" just fits into the screen, I'm sticking to that for now.
- "Fraktion" ---> "Gruppierung" ?
After some thinking, I decided to use "Gruppierung" from now on. I think it sounds more natural and captures the intended feel better.

But I changed it to "Erzfeind" now. :)

True, but I'm going to stick to "Meeresfungus" - why? Because "Meeresalgen" sounds more natural than "Seealgen" (and has about 9x more Google-hits, so I'm not totally alone with that) - I think that's a pretty good comparison for how a marine biologist may name sea fungus.

New round of translations for patch v11e attached.

EDIT: Ack, overlooked the 11f patch, but since it doesn't seem to change text-files, it should work just as well.

Cheers, LT.

Indeed, this was because of the missing community translation - after installing also several other bad translations (especially diplomatic dialogues) vanished.

New translation for the new patch v11h attached. Translated the additions, added SMAX quotes and updated most base names with the official translation. Also corrected a couple of typos, I've found.

Cheers, LT.

Slightly updated version of the translation, corrected some typos, made a couple of changes to keep it consistent with the German Community translation (which is the base for the translation, so I recommend using it) and switched over from "Psycho-Virus" to "PSI-Wurm", which is a translation by Writing Bull from Civforum.de.

Cheers, LT.
