Germany Too Strong Very Early and Very Late Game??

I'm playing Germany currently, and I was horribly behind on tech for a while. Greece came after me with a rifleman army before I had gunpowder, and I only had two iron for longswords. Fortunately, the landsknechts are so cheep, that I was doing fine losing one for every rifle I killed. Ended up eliminating Greece before I finally figured out how to make rifles of my own. I couldn't have done it with normal cost pikemen.

But ... as for tanks? What are they for? That stage of the game, the only melee attack I do is against a city with 1 hp. I've got an air force, and a mess of rocket artillary with range upgrade.

However, Arabs and Mongols can stil get Blitz on their Horsemen, then promote them to Camel Archers and Keshiks respectively. The Camel Archer with 3 attacks is impressive enough, but the Keshik with 5 attacks is pure horror.

I tried that, and that failfixed. I had lvl 5-6 horsemens upgraded to keshik only to find out, that NO melee units promotion works for them. Blitz+Shock-3 Keshik are the same as vanilla ones. No 2nd shoot, no terrain bonus.

Their Tanks seem to come too late to make a difference in all but the most hotly contested games. And they have to be built/bought, so while good, they aren't overpowered - an AI enemy of roughly equal tech could shoot it with Rocket Artillery/Bombers/Helicopter Gunships.

Tanks come before all those in the tech tree. That enemy would be ahead of you in tech, not equal.

Apart from that, lots of good changes/fixes, some of them undocumented

Satellites tech reveals the entire map now. I dont recall seeing that in the patch notes. :)

Thanks for the correction. I'll stop spreading falsehoods now.
