GG 1: Religious Fanatics

Ok, I'm next (I think)...I'll grab it and play this weekend. Expect a report by Sunday Night.

Glad to see you back.

So the order is set then,

Turn 0 -- 1475 BC
Reviewing the situation...
2 Workers for 4 (about to be 5) cities? Das ist nicht so gut. I change Tokyo from Spearman to Worker...he'll be built just when Tokyo grows. I'm going to Irrigate the Wheat and turn Tokyo into a Worker/Settler factory.
Kyoto has good production; they'll be the Spearman/Settler factory.
Osaka building Spearman without Barracks? Not in a Regent game (Emperor or Deity, yes, Regent, no). I'd switch to worker but don't want to lose the 4 shields, so I switch to Barracks, and I'll order up a Worker or Settler next.
Hrmmm...no Dotmap, but I see where we should build cities to our West; hopefully we can get there before the British do. I see where the Settler should go (immed. SW of iron).

Reviewing the world situation, I believe that our populace may be subject in the near future to a HERESY: I have already detected a sense of worship towards the leader of the heathen French, the one called Joan. If they are allowed to survive and prosper, then our people may fall under the spell of this pagan goddess. While I do not expect hostilities to commence during my turn, it seems inevitable that we'll have to wipe them off the map--to protect our people's virtue, of course.

Man, that is some beautiful land to our West...I'll do everything possible to keep the heathens out of it.

Turn 1 -- 1450 BC
Some motion...

Turn 2 -- 1425 BC
Osaka builds Barracks, I order up Spearman (to be followed by Settler).
I don't like the fact we're losing 5gpt on Map Making, but for now I don't see any way around it.

Turn 3 -- 1400 BC
The English are building the Pyramids!
Tokyo completes Worker, I order up Worker.
Satsuma is built. I order up Warrior for defense.
Someone has Map Making, as it drops to 8 turns...the English have it.

Turn 4 -- 1375 BC
ZzzZzz

Turn 5 -- 1350 BC
A Barbarian Horseman shows up near Tokyo, and is easily dispatched by our L33T Warrior.
Kyoto grows next turn, and I'm suspecting rioting in 2...

Turn 6 -- 1325 BC
Nope, Kyoto is ok with 4 (about to be 2) Content citizens.
ZzzZzz

Turn 7 -- 1300 BC
The British demand Territory Map and 22 Gold...we're in no position to fight a war with this hag...is she in position to fight a war with us? She may be bluffing, but it's not worth it. We need to get the W settled...then we'll beat her into the ground with HOLY VENGEANCE!
Kyoto finishes Settler, I order up Spearman.
Osaka produces Spearman, I order up Settler...I micromanage Osaka to not build the Settler until after it grows to size 4.

Turn 8 -- 1275 BC
Satsuma builds Warrior, I order up Worker--will be built when Satsuma grows (I want to get the Iron and Satsuma online).
The Tartar encampment tithes 25 Gold to our cause.

Turn 9 -- 1250 BC
ZzzZzz

Turn 10 -- 1225 BC
Now the French are making demands...grrrr...I give in..it's only 11 Gold (plus TM)...and they're going to pay soon anyhow.
We learn Map Making...I order up Code of Laws, but the next player can change if they wish. I didn't trade around Map Making, but I suspect the Hag already did, so feel free to check.
Kagoshima is built...I order up Barracks, but next player can veto. There are barbarians to the South of Kagoshima (good thing I brought a Spearman along, eh?)
I drop science to 70% to give us 1 gpt. Feel free to change that.

Save and dotmap (w/ analysis) to follow in next post

Here's how I think we should settle:
Kyoto finishes Spearman, orders up Settler. When that Settler is built, he should be sent to Blue Dot.
When Osaka finishes Settler, send that him and the Spearman to Red Dot.

Purple Dot will be a great city (fish + 2 shielded plains on river), so that should be considered a priority.

Green Dot will fill in nicely behind Blue and Red, but we shouldn't build it before Blue and Red.

Maize Dot is designed for one purpose and one purpose only: staging area for the destruction of the Heathen French and their idolator Joan. Do not build Maize Dot until we're prepared to wipe the French off the map; it's a flip risk otherwise, being so close to Paris.

There's room for more cities on the coast, but those are definitely low priority.

We need more Workers; I loathe not being Industrious. In addition, since we can never be Democracy, we'll never get that bonus either. Also remember that the AI regards Workers as Units when calculating Military might.

We're looking good so far, insomuch that the two civs next door are patsies. Unfortunately Paris is too close to be a good spot for an FP (unless we plan on not expanding past France's borders)...Lyons isn't good because it's enmeshed in Jungle. Perhaps NE of Coventry.

GOD, since you're next, you should probably update the Dotmap with areas outside of Red and Blue Dot, as I was concentrating on the near term.
Also remember that my Dot map can be vetoed :D

I've got it.

I'll take 10 turns for this one.

I checked out your dotmap. I think we really need the Blue Dot to get those luxuries. The Red Dot looks good with 2 cows. The Purple is not on top of the priority list for me.

As for France, I'm debating on what to do with them. We can horsemen rush them, although swordsmen will work because they are pretty close.

But we need some justification. Whether they build a wonder we want, or they take a city spot that is designated for us. Or we feel that they lack culture expansion, meaning no temples, which gives us reason to kill.

I will meet personally with Joan and discuss her motives, and see where they stand. If they refuse our deals that our merciful god has asked us to do, then we will be allowed to convert AKA. destroy them.

:egypt:

1200 BC: Spearman completed in Kyoto. Start settler. The kagoshima Spearman defeats an attacking barbarian.
1150: Satsuma completes worker, starts a temple. Going to hook up that iron. Settler completed in Osaka. Holy Crap!:). I forgot to start the Oracle. A religious wonder. I pray to our god to give us mercy. He forgives us, but demands something in return. We offer Joan's head. He accepts. We will attack Joan as soon as our army is large enough. Settler started in Edo after completing a temple.
1100 BC: Kyoto completes a settler that will be sent off to to green dot city.
1075BC our worker in Kyoto is completed. We start an archer.
1000 BC our warrior is attacked by a barb horsemen. We kill it and then destroy the camp. Nara established.
950 BC: Another barb warroir attacks and is defeated by our elite warrior. We are have fallen behind in techs and England is really far ahead of us in score. Acher completed in Kyoto, and will be taken to the French border. We need a few swordsmen, then take out Joaney and expand all over England's southern border. Nagoya founded.

A few cities built, but not too many units. Horses will be connected up shortly and I think we build about 5-10 horsemen or swordsmen and then attack France. England is accumulating score points like crazy. They must have big empire. I didn't do any trading, because we will demand the techs needed from France.

War seems the way to go. England is too big to bother right now. France has no culture, and all small cities.

ChrTh: How do you get the screenshots to be so clear. When I save them as GIF they get screwed up. FYI I use Paint.

@god

For good screenshots - Save the files as a .jpg.
Earlier version of paint won't let you do so. Win98 doesnt, win xp does.

@god: What LK said (although I personally use Paint Shop Pro)

Let's be sure we can really take out France when we start War...we should have a good number of Horsemen and Swordsmen, and we should prosecute to the bitter end.

God, it sounded like you're suggesting we do a Declare War/Make Peace-Gain Techs/Declare War strategy...I am not entirely comfortable with that, but if that's what the team wants to do, I'll go along with it.

Shouldn't research never exceed 50% unless it is a religious tech?

Good luck Ming - please don't make me decide to go to war, I probably won't do it!! I'm not very good when it comes to war unless I am forced into with a good army. Good luck!

925 - Improvements to holy lands commense.

900 - Temple in Kagoshima completed. Our beloved diety gave us a vision of Great Pyramids beginning construction in heathenistic Iroquis lands.

875 - Our deity is clearly displeased, heathen barbarians overan our Spearman in Nagoya and sacked the town. Our holy warriors are moving in to end this threat.

850 - Code of Laws completed. Our Inquisition Centers (courthouses) will do much to keep our population inline. Monarchy is started, eschewing the foul scientific pursuits of Literature and Mathmatics

I dropped the Scientific Rate to 10%. We need to save money to upgrade our holy warriors before their first crusade against the pagan french.

The pagan barbarians who sacked the most holy city of Nagoya have been brought into line by our holy warriors. +25 gold

825 - Missionaries/Settler completed in Edo. He will be sent Northwest to expand our holy lands and bring luxuries online to sacrifice to our beloved diety. Horseman started

800 - Raised the lux rate to 10% to keep Kyoto and other size 4 cities out of disorder.

775 - Temple completed in Satsuma, a barracks is ordered to better train our holy warriors

750 - Our diety is most pleased with the improvements to the holy land. He has allowed us access to a new metal which we will craft into most holy weaponry, Iron is online

730 - Improvements to the holy land continue

710 - Barracks complted in Tokyo. Divine horsmen now in training.

We'll soon be ready to start production on a most humble, yet glorious army to crusade against the pagan French, most of my turn was spent completing and continuing work on temples and barracks, improving lands and connecting cities.

I switched Osaka to the Colossus (due in 13) as it's a religious Wonder and switched Kyoto to the Oracle (due in 23). I expect to complete both of these. I also expect we'll lose out on the Pyramids unless we get some leaders out of a war against France. Hopefully The english or french will get the Pyramids, though I doubt the French will..... If it's completed far away from us, that'll definitely impact the way we play this game as we'll have to dedicate ourselves to warmongering and expansionism (which is fine by me).

The Settler is 2 moves away from the blue spot in the Dot map. Get the luxuries online asap so we can keep the lux rate down.

We're going to lose out on the purple spot, for now. The French have a Settler moving that way. (See Eastern Front pic) Of course we'll be getting that rather quickly in our impending Crusade.

I left it to someone else to pick the fight with France. We're not nearly ready for the war. It's my preference to wait until we have a good offensive force before we start the expansion/crusades.

I'm also against the start war, get techs in peace, re-start war thing. I have no problem getting techs in a peace treaty, let's just not break the peace treaty to crete that cycle. I'd actually prefer to wipe the heathens off the face of the planet. (If the respawn across the planet, go ahead and get peace and all their techs then.)

I got the worker next to Kagoshima in order to mine that spot. The workers in the east are mining and the workers in the northwest are creating roads.

Also, just a note, don't bother irragating lands in despotism, you don't get the extra food bonus until your out of despotism.

Ex, you're up next.

Careful with Kyoto and disorder, keep raising the lux rate rather than using entertainers (or the dreaded scientists). Or even better, get a military unit there. I believe I've been, as they say around here, "Weedy". (How do I insert smilies?)

Good luck.

I have Win 98 so that explains my problem. Wonder why we can't save it as BMP? Are they too big?

@Ming: To make smilies just click on the Smilies on the box on the left side of you reply post.

Uh, whoops! I forgot that...but then again, considering God forget it as well, I don't feel so bad :)

oh well... scratch that... will post tonight or tomorrow... got a little carried away with testing my mod!

alright here we go again:

0 - increase science output to 50%, givs us monarchy in 30. Also increase lux to 20% to save Kyoto.

1 - I check out our military, and we are weak compared to our neighbors! Shoot... we'll have to work on that.

3 - I found Izumo near dyes and around a bunch of forest.

5 - Kyoto is in disorder!!! Damn those citizens!!! Heathens!!!

6 - Check around, and see we can make some profitable trades. We trade Code of Laws to France for Math and 12g; and trade Code of Laws to the Iroquois for Philosophy, their territory map, and 10g. Good deals!

8 - The french are building the pyramids.

Not much happened in my turn... built stuff... mosly military. If we are to spread our holy religion, we must build our military! We cannot crusade without it!

Other than that, I think its 19 or 20 to the Oracle, and like 24 to Monarchy. Good luck to all!
