GGF4: French

I'm really sorry to have to post this, but I think I may have to drop out of my own SG.

I have to review, to remember some of what I learned I at school last year (good idea?), and I'm just swamped with "work" at GCF :(.

I'm so sorry, and I hope that "we" do well, and win!

At least I didn't delay us this time, Grahamiam can't take it until Monday.

A thousand sorries, I just don't have time anymore. I hope at some time in the future I'll get more time, and be able to either rejoin, or at least play some SG again. I feel so bad. Now I'm going to go be sad :(. Well, I wish you luck, and I'll lurk whenever possible.

:cry::(

Sorry again. I just can't say sorry to much :(.

that leaves 1 of the original 4. don't knock yourself too hard gogf, it's only a game :) thanks for letting us know and good luck @ gcf.

ok, i see it and will try to get as many in tonight as possible. will play and post the save no matter how much i finish. jb can either pick it up after that or wait till wednesday which is the next day i'll be able to play and finish my turns.

@gogf, thanks for a definative answer. Do well at school this year. What are you studying?

I'm in on rush to get the handoff so take your time gramhamiam.

I started playing the conqest scenarios this weekend and found that they're pretty interesting. Just finished Rise of Rome. Carthage and Celts, dead. Goths, reduced at the hands of others but my close and personal friends. Scythians, not much interaction w/ them but we stayed on good terms as they warmongered w/ everyone else. Finally teamed up w/ the Macedonians to treat the Persians to a world class butt-kicking.

Kewl,

It's pretty much just english for me. My wife and I know enough german between the two of us to get around and I know enough spanish to get fed and/or my face slapped.

Thanks for the primo start to this game. The starting team executed a great early expansion. We're behind in techs at the moment but our Incan nemesis for the past few centuries is a dead man. After that w/ continental ownership and a strong economy the only thing not decided is our win date and how much fun we have in getting there.

i am officially delayed till Wednesday due to RL and another sg taking too much time tonight. i'll play and post then.

edit: playing now...

Preflight check: Looks good. New Cuzco, our launch point, is not roaded to our empire. Lots of work to do around the core and with the N/S railway.

T1: 1380AD

T2: 1385AD
IBT: Persia declares on Sumeria

T3: 1390AD Celts still have MPP with Persia.

IBT Celts and Maya sign MA vs Sumeria. Mil Academy is completed.

T4: 1395AD Use Privateers to sink 2 Persian galleys and 1 frigate, getting 1 slave ship.

IBT: Maya and Sumeria sign peace.

T5: 1400AD Capture Sumerian worker with Landing at the Island of Nagsu.

T6: 1405AD

IBT: Maya and Persia sign MA vs Aztecs.

T7: 1410AD Decide to stop farting around and load up Galleons with Cav’s. I’ll fill about 7 for Sumerian and 4 or so for the Vikings.

T8: 1415AD @ Nagsu: 2 cav’s forget they can retreat but take the town.
Note that the Celts no long have an MPP with Persia so trade WM and then declare on them (they lack salt as well)
Celts
Take Camul for the cost of 1 cav.

IBT: Celts kill off the Aztecs and then bring up a bunch of junk.
Electricity -> RP @80% in 10T.

T9: 1420AD Celts Take Lugdunum.
IBT: celts move up better junk. A few towns riot since we lost incense from the Vikings and I forgot to check the happiness.
Land a bunch of units in Sumeria.

T10: 1425AD Celts kill 1 warrior, 2 spears, 5 pikes, 1 knight, 3 Gallic Swords, 5 longbows, and 1MDI for the price of 3 cav’s (1 vet lost to a longbow! ).
SumeriaTake Kuara, killing 2 rifles and a cav with 0 loses. Have a brain fart and fortify the Army in town. Please move him out next turn if it lives :)

We can get a good trade with the Maya for Electricity. We need the Furs so I recommend we take it.

I would just avoid the Celtic capitol for now and take out all the other cities. I imagine they have a ton of pikes in town. You may want to isolate the capitol to ensure they don't get salt.

Good luck, i left you in a precarious situation

Maya sign up the Cetls and then bail on them. Nice.

I'll take it from here.

Pre-flight
OK we take the deal w/ the Maya. Electricity for furs, Med, Dem, WM and 480g.

IBT: Persia and the Sumerians make peace.

Turn 1, 1430 AD
Kill off three Sumerian cavs at our beachhead.
Sending troops towards Scandihoovia.

IBT: Vikes and Celts make peace.
Sumerians kill off our army.

Turn 2, 1435 AD
Kill 13 Celtic units w/ one loss.
Kill 8 Sumerian cavalry.

IBT: Massive Celt LB’s and MI’s come out to greet our cavalry. We loose 5 cav and take about as many units with us. Not a fair trade.
Sumerians are throwing serious cavalry at our beachhead and kill off our muskets.

Turn 3, 1440 AD
We counter the Sumerians and take out 6 cavalry at the cost of 1.
We counter the Celts and get a GL that immediately becomes a Cav army making three on the Celtic continent.

IBT: The Sumerian don’t stop sending units until Kuara is retaken. Celts don’t mount much of a counter but find the workers I left unattended, capture them and kill them. Rats!

Turn 4, 1445 AD
Yellow-lined cav army goes down to pike in Entremont. Other two armies and one cavalry take the city. So as fast as we get an Army I get it kilt.
We sign up Xerxes to beat up on Gilgamush for coal.
Replaceable Parts in 3.

IBT: Celts do nothing and Sumerians no longer have us as a target.

Turn 5, 1450 AD
Zzzzzz

IBT: A lone Celt MI attacks our forted army. Amusing.
Sumerian frigate kills off a privateer. Sumerian ships approaching our East coast.
Volcano erupts and takes out whatever poor city was sitting below it! Yikes!

Volcano.jpg

IBT: Zzzzz

Turn 6, 1455 AD
Units healing and stuff.

IBT: Sumerian frigate dies throwing itself against a Privateer and we net a slave ship. Sumerians land two cavalry that are short for this world.
Rep. Parts comes in and we set our sites Sci. Method in 7 at 70%. Anyone for ToE? I’ll set Paris for US and the next leader can pump out an army or switch to ToE. I vote for ToE.

IBT: Zzzzz

Turn 7, 1460 AD
Cav armies take Alesia. Seems the Celts have run out of units.
Sumerian calvs meet their maker.
Gotta say most of these turns have gone into building factories and banks and a few other key structures.

IBT: Scandinavia joins Sumeria in the fight against the Persians.

Turn 8, 1465 AD
Armies take Verulamium but take a beating in the process.

IBT: Zzzz

Turn 9 and 10, 1470-1475 AD
Zzzzz

Notes:
There are units sitting off the coast of Scandinavia and Sumeria. We'll need far more to get into Sumeria and hold it.

The latest save

Pre-turn- I want to focus on getting rid of the Celts. Do comparatively minor actions for a bit vs Sumeria.

IBT- Coal source is exhausted, Celts land knight by Mecca.

Turn 1 (1480) Kill the Celt knight by Mecca. Move up forces by Richborough and Gergovia. Workers keep railing.

IBT-zzz

Turn 2 (1485) Richborough falls to an Army and 1 cav. Add a 4th Cav to the army which was a mistake, until it gets reduced to 1hp in taking the city from 3 pikes and a longbow. He’s stuck now until transports, but it probably isn’t that big a deal as we can just about free up every other unit on the land mass for other duties. Make RoP with Maya and get a couple gold from them in the process.

IBT- No land action, see a couple Sumerian and Celtic boats pass by.

Turn 3 (1490) Science to 50%, Scientific Method in 1. Land troops in Maya by Sumerian border. Land cav by celt town of Augustodurum.

IBT- Sumer redlines a cav against our stack. Sci Method in, change Paris US build to ToE in 5. Turn off Science.

Turn 4 (1495) Move our Mayan SOD by the border of Sumeria. Take Augustodurum.

IBT- Celts land an LB by Allegheny.

Turn 5 (1500) Kill the Celt LB. Sink a 2hp privateer of Reykjavik. Upgrade a dozen cannons to artillery.

IBT- Lose 2 cav to a Celt knight and MI at Zitlaltapec. Sumer infantry killed attacking our SOD. Vikings kick us out of their waters. Sumer drop a cav by Mecca.

Turn 6 (1505) Kill the Sumer cav. Kill knight and spear by Zitlalpec with cav

IBT- Sumer declares war on the Maya. Vikes and Persia want to kick us out of their waters. No time for this, set up RoP with both of them. Sumers lose 2 frigates against us. Persia declares war on Celts.

Turn 7 (1510) Land cav SOD by Sumer town of Delhi. Pillaging by Isin. Kill a couple Celt spears at Zitlalpec. Land 2 more cav there.

IBT- ToE in, take Atomic Theory and Electronics, Corporation in 6 as no one has it. :) Paris starts Hoover’s in 16. Lose a couple cav by Delhi, lose a cav by Zitlalpec.

Turn 8 (1515) Capture Zitlalpec and the Strong Celts are eliminated. :D Battle for Delhi is a wash. Kill about 5 Sumer cav and capture the town with a few gold pieces, losing 2 cav. Redline a reg infantry adjacent with cannons, then lose 2 vet cav trying to kill it. Pillage a rubber by Isin.

IBT- Sumers try to retake Delhi and almost succeed.

Turn 9 (1520) Abandon Delhi, as I don't think it will hold. There are galleons adjacent that are forted with the refugees. Land more forces by Kuara.

IBT- Strasbourg riots.

Turn 10 (1525) Capture Kuara defended by 2 Sumerian Infantry. Brest set to US in 18.

Post turn: Got rid of Celts as planned. Not sure if Kuara will hold or not. We have solid tech lead with the ToE now, so it’s a matter of getting to Motorized Trans next. Paris has Hoover’s due in 14. I would just keep pumping infantry, artillery, etc into Kuara and go from there.

I have time today so I’ll play right away. Please don’t take this as meaning that I expect the next player to jump on the save immediately as well, as it’s just a quirk in my personal schedule that I was able to do this.

Preflight check: Find a bunch of ships near the southern Viking coast, next to a razed town. I send them back towards the celtic land to pick up the 3 unit cav army there and to resupply itself with troops.

MM Paris to shave a turn off Hoovers.

We need another lux as a lot of our towns are on the verge of rioting. Trade: Mayan: sell Sci Method for Furs, WM, FA, 8gpt, and 426g

Use a couple of the Incan settlers to create new towns in Celtic lands and to increase troop support. Upgrade 3 celtic cannons to arty.

IBT:

T1: 1530AD Trade: Mayan: sell AT for Nationalism and 16g (I want intel agency eventually); Rush walls in Sumerian stronghold; Redline pirates with new arty near Celtic lands. Change my mind about those ships near the Vikings and send them S instead.

IBT: Beat off a cav attack from Sumeria @ Kuara, losing one infantry but retreating 3 cav’s.

T2: 1535AD I finally notice a lot of towns in our core are overproducing food (size 12 with excess food). Also, a lot of workers around our core are working alone. I start forming worker gangs and replace irrigated tiles with mines to boost production.

Disband a wounded privateer in Kuara towards a barracks and then rush it.

Sumeria now has espionage.

T3: 1540AD Disband a wonded Frigate in Kuara and rush a library so we can produce culture and reduce our flip chance. 3 cav army lands in Kuara and I send him out to begin destroying the Sumerian infrastructure.

Bahh! Forgot flips are off for this game

IBT: Corporation -> Refining
.
.
.
.
T8: 1565AD Army finished pillaging all roads around the Sumerian capitol.

Persia and Sumeria sign peace

T9: 1570AD Isin is finally bombarded down to size 6. Use cav to clean out redlined infantry, losing 1 cav but gaining 2 elites. Take town + 2 slaves + 1g.
Start moving infantry into position for Marad.

IBT: Vikings and Sumeria sign MPP; Sumeria retakes Isin, killing two Infantry, a musket, and a longbow.
Vikings declare war on us and the Maya.
Sumeria drops off a single cav next to Entremont

T10: 1575AD Use an elite AC to kill the Sumerian cav near Entremont and get an MGL!
Empty army is transported all the way to Kuara. Next player can decide if they want another cav army for fast pillaging or an infantry army to hold off tanks.
Hoovers due in 3T. We should start making army’s in Paris next to get ready for our Tanks.
Isin may fall again next turn but we should now have enough cav’s to retake it easily and then hold on for good. Rush walls, then a barracks, and it’ll be ours. Also, workers are almost done improving the core so we can probably bring a handful over to the Sumerian continent to follow our conquests with rails.
Good luck, turns are taking a long time now so take your time :)

Got it. Will take my time.

Boy Scouts and curriculum night for 4th and 6th graders tonight.

Wednesday looks open.

Lets just say the Sumerians have lots and lots of units and are quite fond of Isin.

any chance of getting persia back in on them? i noticed during my turns that once peace was made between the two of them, sumeria suddenly was able to bring a lot of cav's down to pressure us and the mayan.

The other thing is after Hoover Dam comes in, it's as good a time as any to mobilize.
good idea. i rarely do this, though, so i'm not 100% sure, but i think we should make sure all those factories around the core are finished or else they'll revert to a military build once we mobilize.

Factories in the core are proceeding well. I'll draw a line as to the last city I would like to see w/ a factory and then shoot for mobilization. That turn I'll take a shot at MM'ing our cities.

I'll also ask Jerksies if he wants another piece of Gilgamush.

We lost an island city to a seaborne berserker attack. I think infantry along our West coast may be in order and a nice fleet of frigates to interdict the Vikes before we start landing troops on them.

I'll break the bad news here... I loaded up the army w/ cavalry and got it killed all in one turn. Two Infanty bombed down to a collective 5hp's in Isin and the army got ground up by the second infanty. It was painful to watch. A lone cav then stepped up and took this fool out in one shot.
