Actually, an EMP would be a good thing to add to the game.( minus the sexual part that strollen added) The EMP would shut down the electricty in an area for a turn or two, thus halting production and sending the citizens into panic and mass chaos.
Well, EMPs are already in the game, one application is Russias UU (see post #81 for details), but the idea of using it to halt the actions of a city is a good idea too. I think that EMPs should do that as well.

Hate to get off topic Perfection, but I added to cfcopolis. :D
That's definitly worth getting off-topic to tell me about.

Sounds like a great idea.
That's what everyone else has been saying...

...except for the lamoids!

but you sound like your a little crazy about robots :scan:
I'm only crazy about them becase they are so awesome! There is nothing in the universe more awesome than Giant Death Robots!

i know some thin better its called Civ

The problem is how we can differenciate good GDR's from bad GDR's(as Perfection himself had pointed out). I mean, there will be some code of honor or something? Will the GDR's be programmed to act on a moral code as humans do?

What principles will GDR's follow to? Thermodynamics? Philosophy? Remember: a good warrior has studied the Art of War(as Sun Tsu himself pointed out) and knows when and how to strike.

Will be a Giant Great Wonder called Giant Death Robots Robotic Military Academy?

Will be a Military Law that Giant Death Robots will follow, such as guilty for treason, Medal for the best Giant Death Robot in the battlefield?

This was funny to begin with. I think you've gone a little off the deep end.
See, now who's gonna tell me that those aren't awesome?
Those aren't awesome.
Giant Death robots are unoriginal, a stupid cliche, boring, childish, and... did I mention stupid?

Move thread to the spamhole, aka OT.

P.S. That Albert Einstein received opposition does not mean that because you receive opposition you are the next Albert Einstein. ;) Get your logic straightened out, buy a large bucket of cold water, and pour it over your head. Then hire someone to disillusion you :)

Ummm, we get the point that you don't like the idea. You don't have to restate it in hundreds of different ways, once is enough! And anyways it can't be better than Civ, it will be Civ!

Perhaps there could be some sort of code of honor among "protector/good" Giant Death Robots. They would kill less people when taking over and would be fair and likable. The evil ones would be sneaky and devious. We'd use them in more subversive actions. They might slay defenseless towns and pound things into the ground for the joy of pounding things into the ground.

Remember, the early Giant Death Robots are only as moral as thier human controllers, toward the mid atomic age with the invention of "Cybernetics" we see the first sentient ones, run by a hybrid robot/human mind. Eventually we get to "Artifical Nueral nets" and we get artificial intellignce. These would be like humans in hving been programed to have emotions. I suppose they will have The Art of War, but that really won't be too much a part of the game!

No, I think it will be a Giant Small wonder.

I suppose so. Good Robots may defect if you are cruel, especially to the city they were from (The usually have good repport with thier builders)

You complain about it being spammy so you spam it? I find that most hypocritical.

No, but it doesn't indicate I'm incorrect either. When most of the more intelligent posters here agree with me and only nitwits, like you ,disagree! That speaks for itself, mediocre mind!

Erik Mesoy said:

You can't buy a large bucket of cold water. You can buy a large bucket and fill it with water, but they don't sell water in buckets. Seeing illogical your statement is I find you to be incapable of logical thought and so all your arguements void!

Yes I should have realized that, his persistence in declaring his hate of the GDR idea is most "illogical". Logic would dictate that one would not continue to spam a thread with the same idea over and over again.

Perfection said:

When exactly will they begin to develop emotions such as joy? You also mention them becoming sentient, would it not be a mistake for the humans to develop sentient GDRs? They could easily destroy their creators and the rest of the human race.

It would be totally unawesome if the leader of a civ wasn't an GDR, so this wouldn't be a problem. Your king unit(regicide) would be an upgradable mega-GDR, so all the creators are your slaves anyway. You just recruit a few for piloting duties before "Cybernetics" and "Neural Net Processors".

Will the Chinese be able to get Kung-Fu GDRs for the Industrial Age?

Do you not listen, lamoid? I told you to be silent!
Thee shalt not criticize Perfection, for he is a genius! Well, not as big a genius as the Scientific GDR, but a genius non the less!
You can not see outside your little Civ3 box, and for this I feel sorry for you. Can you not see, GDR's are the FUTURE of Civ? No more weak flesh and loser-ages! No, we shall only have unparralled awesomeness! Yeah man!

How many times must I say it?
STOP POSTING IRRELAVANT REMARKS OVER AND OVER AGAIN AKA SPAM :gripe: [pissed]
If thats not clear enough the forum rules clearly define spam as
Spam is considered posting topics or messages on our forums that contain no point, relevance, or contain subject matter that doesn't directly allow other member participation. Topics directed to a particular user, posting several times consecutively as an appendage to ONE post, and posts in threads that have NOTHING to do with the subject matter are all considered spam and will be deleted on sight. Contributing to/or intentionally posting spam will not be tolerated.
Posting in this thread certainly won't make it go away, so if you have nothing constructive to say then don't say it! We all know your opposed to this idea so there is really no point in posting. This is the last time I will respond to your annoying and consistently similar remarks.

Oh Perfection, now that I'm done with my rant, when will GDRs first be able to be built? late indusrtial age, early modern?

I like this idea :) if you can build a spaceship to go to Alpha Centauri, why the hell shouldnt you be able to build Giant Death Robots!

It wont be long before in real life rich countries send 120,000 robots to liberate a country anyway.

Bring it on.

In the absence of his most holy awesomeness Perfection, I shall strive to answer your question.

Tha game starts in the Steam age, and goes on to the Gas, Atomic, Post-Nuclear Halocaust, Fusion, Anti-matter, and the secret age beyond. So the first GDR will be a steampowered thing made of metal, straight from the forges of Gustave Eiffel!

I knew that  I just kinda forgot while ranting about spam. I can see it now, just outside of Paris a rumbling is heard. Some birds perched on the branch of a tree fly off in fear. The scene pulls back and we see a huge factory, suddenly the gates of the factory open and out comes a giant steam driven metal thing, In the control section is the insane genius/architect/scientist that is Gustave Eiffel! The dawn of the age of GDRs is at hand! The way we envision warfare changes forever!

Well, emotions start as human emotions when they are controlled by humans but gradually it shifts over to cybernetics and eventually full robotitics and the emotions become more specialized. Now with sentient GDRs a robotic overthrow is possible but they, being loyal to your civ, will tranfer your conciousness to a computer so you can join them. You can try to foster robotic control, or you can try to suppress it, both sides have thier advantages.

Three things
1. He called me illogical, not an idiot.
2. He's not sane
3. I thought you said goodbye

Rip-off, I've allready proven it's not a rip off. Anyways, no people with opinions I respect are calling me an idiot and I don't give a damn about the opinions of lamoids.

Well, in the very beginning you're just a man in a GDR, but in the end you are the GDR. Sort of like how robocop started out with part of a human mind.

Not in the inudtrial age. But the Kung-Fu GDR is a very powerful unit in the early fusion age.

Actually, the nueral pathways Scientific GDRs are based off of mine ;) We're comparable in intelligence.

Actually everyone will start out with a single GDR as they were all developed almost at the same time, however Gustave Eiffel's "Iron Crusher" was more powerful.

That will be the first movie in the game! It will show some robots from the other nations being deployed. Then comes the Iron Crusher scene, and we see Gustave Eiffel laughing maniacly and them game begins.
