GMR Into the Smokey Skies!

Hey all, I would like to do a GMR game using the new scenario "Empires of the Smokey Skies" from the Gods & Kings expansion. Here's a great write-up of the scenario if you're not familiar with it: http://civilization.wikia.com/wiki/Empires_of_the_Smoky_Skies

The scenario supports only 5 players and I'll take them on a first come first served basis. I've included below 5 unique join links to the game. Once a link has been used to join the game it won't work anymore, so if you try one and it fails try another one. It should only allow each person to join once.

When you join the game you will get to pick one of the available pre-determined civs. The available leaders/civs are as follows:

Great! It's pretty fun, very different from normal CiV but the way it handles victory is quite interesting

I have found the only one that doesnt give me the "sorry but this game is private and your not invited" message. That one, however, does not let me chose a civ and if I try to join as random I get:

You need to select the only civ that is left. Can't select random. If you play the scenario, every 5 leader has unique advantage.

Edit:
I bet you did not read carefully the first post, this is a scenario, the civs are just symbols, in the scenario they are different.

I cant choose a civ. It wont show the normal list of civs when you click the button. Just random.
The only one that doesnt show the "private not invited" message is the second one.

Try the first link that worked for you. As Mel said, every link works once, so if you try second time, it may not work. Probably need to wait for Mel to create another link for you again.

I've tried all. Only one (second one from the top) shows something else but the message that I'm not invited, and that gives me an error message.

I guess because the first time you tried but failed, the link counts someone joined but immediately withdrawed. Maybe wait for Mel to remove the AI first. Meanwhile, set some time playing the scenario, it's completely different and very funny

Hey Foffaren, sorry for the issues you're running into. If you can get to the "Join" screen it seems that you've picked the correct invite link. However the fact that it's not showing you 'France' as an option in the Civ Selector is a problem.

EEE_Boy is right, scenarios won't work if you select "Random" and it looks like we're not handling that case well. I'll do some digging and see if I can iron this all out. Thank you so much for your patience and willingness to participate!

No I assumed I had to pick france. It just didnt want to work so I did the only thing I could, and then the internet exploded.

Alright Foffaren, I've discovered the problem that was preventing you from joining as France and have fixed it. Now when you go to join the game it will automatically select France for you as that is the only remaining option
