GOG.com shutting down? <-- Nope

I still think this was pretty good idea by them. A lot of publicity and couple top titles to offer right after the initial shock reaction, which has turned mostly into relief, now that the news about continuation are up.

-- Makes them more trustworthy in my eyes, as they dare to joke about company going down and are investing more for future. Before this I didn't quite know what they are going for. But of course understand if someone sees it as pretty bad idea and makes them less trustworthy.

This line of reasoning is so twisted that i can't wrap my mind around it. GOG just deliberately trolled their customers in a desperate attempt to gain publicity. It's hard to imagine a more obvious way to show just how little they really care about their clients.

Yeah, the only message that sends to me is "You know all those games you paid for? Well, you better back every single one of them up because who the hell knows when the service will bust for real". They got a lot of publicity out of it, but at the same time probably pissed off a good amount of their userbase, and that's not a smart thing to do for a site that survives on catering to a niche market.

I lost one of my BG2 discs to a cat-fit. (them claws! D: ) I confess I pirated that one disc to finish the game.

Curious whether their version of BG1 will include the expansion pack :)

I'm pretty sure they will just label it as "The complete Baldur's Gate/Baldur's Gate Gold" or something like that and sell it with the expansion, it's what they usually do. We'll know in a few hours. :)

Edit: The site is up, theoretically at least. It's getting hammered like hell though.

Edit2: Okay, now the site says that it's going through maintenance. 15 minutes after relaunch.
