Goldenhorde Research Department

I'm with the consensus here, we're going to go with Agri unless someone brings up a good point that I missed.

If we decide to go with worker-settler in the build queue then Wheel would need to be one of the next two techs (Agri-->Wheel). No point in building city 2 quickly if we can not hook up the Copper Resource.

I concur.

but we'll be able to build the workers and settler way more quickly with the flood plains and i'm wondering why hook up copper that fast too.

either way both decisions are good.

I'd say Animal Husbandry would be my first choice. If not, I would vote for Mysticism.

There's one turn left for research. I'd go with mysticism, because the only benefit from husband is horses if it is even near us. We probably want to pop borders soon, so mysticism works there.

Pottery is also available. I think getting cottages going will be a huge advantage. Especially since we currently rank dead last in GNP, but only 3 hamlets would put us in pole position.

I also like pottery next. Coppack should be a good hybrid city for now but eventually will be a good commerce city. Getting atleast a few cottages up on the grass river tiles should be a priority. After Pottery, Myst or IW.

Looks like Pottery or Mysticism.

It looks like these will be our next 2 techs so it is merely an order of preference. If we grab mysticism first we will be able to take advantage of a better city placement for Coppack but it will delay hooking up the Copper for about 20 turns. While waiting for our culture pop we will not be able to build any cottages to begin developing our economy.
If we research pottery first we can begin building cottages immediatley after hooking up the copper in Coppack. With no way to build culture we will have to place Coppack 1 tile from the copper and this will leave us with 2 desert tiles in our eventual BFC. However we will have no delay and be able to hook up the copper immediately after settling Coppack.
Either plan has its' pros and cons and I trust Mikes decision as our Chief Scientist in the Council.

Ya, what he said.

Officer positions were never meant to take gameplay decisions away from the players. We still have a day before the turn is played so I think a poll is a much better idea.

what i'd love is the science advisor explaining the choice to make it easier for the people to vote for . just like the text in your poll. he should be there for that

That's why I suggested placing Coppack on the desert tile. Wouldn't the tile the city is placed on have the standard food and shield configuration for a city, thus eliminating 1 of the desert tiles? Plus it would place quicker and be adjacent to the Copper. Close to the Capital true, but is that bad?

I'm sorry if I made it sound like that. I was just letting Mike know I would be fine with his suggestion (I guess decision was a wrong choice of word  ). In the end the Tsar will make the final decision.

Sorry about that absence (a lot happens in one day), RL got in the way of the forum.
Seeing as how the poll is already up, I'll follow whatever is the majority in said poll, although I still support mysticism. We shouldn't rush at such an early stage of the game and end up hurting ourselves due to shortsightedness.

We have 5 more turns till we finish pottery; I would like to suggest archery next.

It’s at least 18 turns until copper is connected maybe longer if barbarian activity keeps our workers from that tile. Archery could be completed in about 14 turns.
