anyone got any suggestions? i was thinking of maybe getting the starcraft battle chest , btw i dont mind getting things of off steam, and im not interested in any of the titles in the gog catalog( i already bought their games that i was interested in).

The entire Company of Heros series is on sale for $12.49 USD on STEAM right now.

And I assume yoy mean Starcraft/Age of Empires/Company of Heros kind of RTS, would you be interested in a map-based RTS? (Think risk but real time, and much much mroe in depth and better). In that case, Europa Universailles 3 Complete and the separate expansion Heir to The Throne, or the Hearts of iron 2 Anthology are highly recommended. Awesomely epic games and low in ost.

i already hav COH, and i dislike games such as HOI and the like.

There is the Men of War: Gold Edition on steam, I haven't played it yet but I picked it up for just over $10 on the recent sale (which sadly just ended, but it is still cheaper than new game prices). It is a sequel to Faces of War and Soldiers: Heros of WW2.

Other than that I don't know of any good games, since AoE/CoH/Starcraft rts style is unplayable for me.

Starcraft is free if you play it on iccup, the international ladder. It might be too hard, though.

nvm, PrinceScamp beat me to it.

Age of Mythology is pretty interesting, should be $20 or less

Have you tried Steam? :dunno:

I bought mine (original plus an expansion) for $15 or $20 at BestBuy two years ago. Or was it Circuit City?

AI War :scan: is a new RTS that's gotten some high praise from Rock Paper Shotgun, Metacritic users (worth about $0.02 each I know), and Tom Chick from Crispy Gamer.

It has been described as a RTS mixed with Tower Defense with a 4x grand strategic layer. I've been playing it for a few weeks now and I am loving it with each play. There is so much to explore and learn about this game. I can't wait to get into some coop action with some friends of mine! Give the demo a try the intermediate tutorial is a wonderful entry into the game.

Download Dune II and/or Stronghold. Plus DOSBox. :old:
Also, Starcraft Roxxxx, baby!

They can't charge you for stronghold, stronghold's free... it was abandoned a long time ago.
I meant the 1993 version. It's found on many abandonware sites.

I meant monetarily free. :)

Abandonware =/= legally free either.

Wikipedia: "Abandonware is computer software which is no longer being sold or supported by its copyright holder. Alternately, the term is also used for software which is still available, but on which further support and development has been deliberately discontinued."

Since the software is no longer sold or supported, the copyright holders are not directly harmed in any way. This is why abandonware sites are, for the most part, ignored by the law.

Go for a complete Company of Heroes. Great game for a future military officer too. Even better game with an internet connection.

Arguing the ethics of it still doesn't make it legal. And technically, you can't conclude the copyright holders aren't harmed until you win against them in court. So really abandonware is just some internet users are uppity and brave.

Anyways, piracy is off-topic on civfanatics.com

Cossacks. The only game that lets you (and requires you) to field 1000+ men armies. +Plus it has Ukraine as a nation :)
And if you are smart like Napoleon, some well placed artillery will destroy them all.

LIES.

Shogun: Total War
Medieval: Total War
Rome: Total War
Medieval 2: Total War
Empire: Total War

and Panzers - Phase One will also support thousand-man armies if you use enough paratrooper cheats.
