Good 'intro' thread for C2C??

What's a good post (or thread) to link to someone who doesn't know anything about C2C describing it (i.e. - a 'marketing page')? The main 'Cavemen2Cosmos' thread's head post is not really suitable - it's bit of a mess visually (sorry SO!), and is more pushing V30 for people who already know something, then telling you about C2C generally.

Any suggestions...?

This post has a lot of good info in its first posts ...

Exactly yes, and advertising purposes, you can also use the ModDb one, it is about the same though.

Thats why most info is in the MOD area, and not in that much in the Project Area, that much at least.

btw i take no offense. Any help with this stuff is really appreciate, most was done by MrAzure.

I noticed how in depth the ModDB one was when I visited there to register (that reminds me... they needed me to wait a week before I could give us an appropriate rating... should go back there again now.) That was very well done as far as a 'marketing page' format goes.

I have to agree, The Moddb page is much better that the Caveman2Cosmos download thread.
I think we should better organize the content, including a guide for new users, next to the download.

So many questions get repeated, over and over, by new players, including 'what all has been improved in each new version?'.
It may be hard to fill in the improvements, but I bet most people don't realize just how much and to what degree things have been improved in C2C.
Not to mention the weight of included mods like AND, ROM, and REVDCM.
I think their included features and philosophies are worth noting, since they also include so much content.
Names of included mods alone are probably not adequate. Most have some feature descriptions which could be included in C2C's more detailed feature lists.

I have always felt the intro threads to C2C were a bit chaotic. I do think we should give people a much better scope of the included features, and progress of the version updates if we could. I think it would speak more to the depth of the changes and draw in some more casual explorers.
Sometimes all they see are the recent posts and threads.

The moddb header does a much better job of conveying the depth of C2C concisely to new viewers.
It would be nice to eventually round out a massive laundry list of improvements, as that is what draws in certain types of players.
I think you should also improve the CivIV -Modpacks thread under Creation and Customization, as more new players navigate there than the C2C project forum, after discovering other mods.
We should consistently put our best foot forward.

I really think that many more people would be interested in C2C if they just saw past the limited feature list intro page, and the simple (and slow) view of the prehistoric game start. They really don't convey C2C's depth well, especially to casual players. I am glad to contribute to any rewrite since I have a pretty extensive background in marketing, and writing. I will take a little time to round out my idea of improvements and present them if you all like.
The Quality and Quantity of content matter as our best introduction to Caveman2Cosmos!
We should probably have a great 1 post overview, and then as complete a breakdown as wise.

Note: Glider1 just made a comment on the Caveman2Cosmos thread about proper crediting of his team and the previous ones. He may be receptive to some RevDCM improvement conversation, not through pm. Always great to have more good allies/advisors. RevDCM is quite a group accomplishment by itself. I hope you feel comfortable approaching him through his forum (like he just asked). :)

He makes a fair point about not having played his mod. However, that's no going to change (personally I barely have time to play test our on mod), and hi post indicated that he is no interested in people taking his code rather than expanding on his mod.

Although we would be (legally) entitled to just take his code (it's open source), I think we should respect his wishes in this regard. We will likely proceed (at some point) to repurpose the REV tags to a DLL-based implementation that is inspired by the original REV, but does not attempt to necessarily slavishly follow it. We've been wanting to DLL-ize it anyway, since it is now approximately a 10% turn-time overhead in its Python for mature large scale games, so this is an appropriate catalyst.

Well really WE haven't gotten anything from HIS mod, just the Original (jdog5000) and what ever Afforess had in AND 1.76, what ever that was?
