I opted for a diplo victory because I ran out of time.

Diplo victory: 31 hours, 59 minutes, 24 seconds.
Firaxis: 7967
Jason: 9323

Middle Ages: 250BC-440AD
IA: 450AD-1255AD
MA: 1260AD-1265AD (Vote)

I found this game to be very enjoyable. I didn't go on a rampage to clear my island and China was a good source of gpt. I should have shut that relationship down long before I did - China started producing techs as soon as I stopped strangling them. Might also have gone better tech-wise if one of the civs on the island had managed to attain dominance. I spent way too long in the IA.

I didn't meet the other civs until 250AD and I sent plenty of galleys into oblivion. But after contact I managed to maintain a monopoly on trade for a good amount of time.

I took out India early for my 2nd core - GL1 arrived in 50BC but went unused until 210AD for a palace jump. After destroying India in 310AD, I stopped warmongering and tried to play nice in the sandbox. By leaving my island populated I ended up with some interesting end-game wars. My war against Rome was planned so I could generate GL3 for the UN, but China suddenly declared and that was an interesting battle.

In the end I had expected my rival to be China, not Persia, but it still worked out. I hurried the vote by withholding the ToE build until I had only Radio left to research. That was a good move because I drew ecology as my free tech so I was able to use tech #2 to pick up Fission and GL3 to rush the UN and used 1260AD to rig the vote with some sweetheart deals.

Final Vote:
Spoiler :
Alexander for Alexander
Caesar for Alexander
Mao for Xerxes
Xerxes for Xerxes
Hannibal for Alexander
Shaka for Alexander
Temujin for Alexander

Middle Ages begins with Greece still at war with India, but their venture in this new era is short-lived, as they're vanquished in 350 BC. Still, no leader.

The fleet of 4 galleys is finally assembled in the small island eastward and they're sent away. Two of them manage to survive and contact with the Zulu is finally achieved in 290 BC. Trade follows and i get full contacts and maps. Persia is sent to the MA and draws Feudalism, that i'm able to trade for. All the civ there are still in despotism and have massive standing armies into their capital cities.

I did sell/gift Republic to everyone and did NOT trade contacts between continents. Still, Persia and Carthage were able to perform some research, but everybody included China went for the lower part of the tech tree, so i had to research on my own Chivalry and all the tech chain until Navigation.

Next target is Rome, with the intent to move the capital to Veii, where it is possible to place 8 cities at RCP 5 and ensure a massive stack of uncorrupted cities. War is declared in 190 BC, honorably, and ends in 10 AD with the complete assimilation of Rome. A leader is created and used to rush Sun Tzu in Delhi.

Meanwhile, China builds the Hanging Gardens, researches Invention and completes Leonardo's in an astonishing short timeframe. Alas, this means golden age for them.

War with China begins with a sneak-attack on 5 chinese settlements in 170 AD, and a second leader comes at the right time to move the capital in the middle of former Roman territory and have the second core already half-operational. But after this initial success, the advance through the mountains becomes problematic. It looks like China upgraded every single unit available. I also came in contact with a conscript mace that killed a veteran unit of mine, placed on mountain, without losing a single hp and getting promoted too  Here comes the SOUR, both with my attacks (that failed miserably) and the Chinese counterattacks in the interturn (that sliced through my units as they were made of paper). But with brute force alone i manage to break through and lay waste on the Chinese mainland, although war weariness skyrockets.

In the meantime, Persia demands for contact with China, that i obviously refuse, and declares war. One after another, all the far AS are drawn into war against us, but since none of them can cross the ocean safely, the only effect of this dogpile is to alleviate the effects of war weariness, so i make no attempt to sign peace whatsoever.

Navigation is researched in 400 AD and China is gone completely in 430 AD, not without another SOUR outside their very last city. Finally, i can lower my luxury spending from a staggering 40% to a more confortable 10% and speed up research toward Military Tradition. On the good side, i got two leaders that i could use to form an army (victory -> Heroic Epic) and build Magellan's.

Preparations for the invasion of the far continent begins immediately, and by 560AD the first two Zulu citied are captured, followed by a third the turn after. But then, i find myself stuck for several turns on those beachheads. Not only they're all at war with me, they're also in RoP each other and a mindboggling number of Mongol units shows up outside my cities. They're most outdated, no match for our cavalries, but with numbers alone they threaten to overcome our capture. Here's a shot of the biggest stack:

and there were 3 of them of similar size

Fortunately, i was amassing both galleys and cavalries on the northern coast for an invasion of Persia, and so i was able to divert those forces to the Zulu coast just in time to avoid being overwhelmed, and build a second chain to supply backup forces turn after turn.

After the mongolian SoDs are vanquished, the rest of Zululand is captured easily and by 650 AD i turn against Mongolia. But at this point i'm about to pass the domination limit, and it would be too much hassle to score a conquest and, at the same time, stay below the limit, so i set up things for a quick domination victory. Too bad i wasn't able to capture Mongolia entirely, there were simply too much veteran muskets on hill cities (defense value: 8) and thanks to another SOUR outside Tabriz (that causes the only failed attack of the whole game), i'm definitely too late to capture the southern part.

Domination is achieved in 720 AD, with a Firaxis score of 11628 and a Jason score of 11861.

Thanks for the game, civ_steve, it was well worth playing, although a bit time consuming.

Lets see what I can remember.
Middle ages.
Had to research chivalry all by myself, then I turned off tech so I could finish off taking over my corner of the world.
Completed that by 540AD, so what to do now?

No other contacts, so they must not have reached the industrial age yet, I will wait for first and second contacts so my GLib can bring me up to speed.

Total culture is 22 for the entire civ, so why not go for 100k! :crazyeye:

Build lots of cities, post sentries and hope for the best.
740 I meet Carthage,
760 have met them all and get a slingshot of knowledge all the way up to...Medicine, no Democracy?

Start distant wars to slow down everyone else.

Kept research going until I got replacement parts and just kept building library's, temple's, Uni's, everywhere else.

Decided late on in the game to send some forces over the the other continent to secure some of my own lux's and watch the wars from close up.

Could have won this any way I would have wanted I think, but I didn't know that early enough.

I was very suprised by the slow tech race by every one else.
