Woohoo! :yeah:

3rd, once again. Pretty nice for only playing a total of maybe 5 hours or so. Early finishes are really something worth their trouble!
Thanks to the AI for building all those wonders (points)!
Congrats, and Duke, you are even quicker the Matrix at Civ3, despite ending later. Good work.
:D

Thanks for the quick action on the Civ 2 GOTM017, Duke!

BTW, I just looked back into the Spoiler Thread to see if some people are missing (some names aren't in the list, like Chofritz, but I see he said he didn't submit this month after all). Also, did smartin737, KingWilly, LordValuna, & you (DoM) submit?

But... I think I noticed something else.... Grigor's score seems to be too low for his finishing year (900 AD) and his Civ 2 score (1640, it looks like). As a rule of thumb, a score in excess of 1000 by AD1000 should get a very high GOTM result, and his is well above 1000 before AD1000. I did a quick scan of other posted dates/scores, and they seem to be about right. :)

Congrats to all the GOTM-ers this month, and a special note to Golem, who might be our first GOTM 017 Special Award winner... the Yellow Star (Earliest OCC SS Landing), assuming his SS landed before the OCC players (his score indicates it did).

PS, I have a suggestion.... Maybe there can be a list of games that the Mod has actually received, and this can be posted as the #1 entry in the announcement thread, or have it's own thread of "GOTM xx Games Received". This way, a person can be sure that the Mod has somone's submission just by checking. This is more important toward the 5th and 6th of the month (end of cycle). If someone does not see their entry listed by the 6th, they should contact the Mod & send it again, or whatever. This way, if something fouled up, it can be caught early. It will also help people help the mod. Matrix used to just post the results, and then go back and add any missing entries, but this seems unnecessary. :)

Some of the submissions I got were messages that were forwarded from matrix, so they may have been missing information. Also, most of the entries did not provide the info that was asked for. So, I'm not sure who's games are who's. Like, Will may be KingWilly. I just don't know.

If Grigors score was 1640, you would be correct. His score was 400. Even with the conquest bonus, it would have been 1140.

Actually Aliardavan landed 5 years earlier then golem.

My game died in 100BC when I couldn't find the time to play it any further. :(

I had hoped to get a list of submissions I received last week, but with the 4th of July and visitng family that stayed much longer than was planned, I had no time to get one together.

Ahhhh.... I see. I was going by what his post in the spoiler said (1640). He must have been including the early finish bonus.

Also, most of the entries did not provide the info that was asked for.
??? What are some of the typical things that you're seeing which are missing? Maybe you can add a FAQ and/or an example on the submission webpage.

A cut and paste "entry form" might ensure more uniformity of results for your processing. e.g., :
CFC User Name:
__________ (The name in your posts)

Civ 2 version
__________ (Classic, FW, CiC, MGE, or ToT)

Method of Victory:
__________ (SS Landing, or Conquest, or Defeat, or 2020 retirement: choose one)

Finish year / Finish Turn:
__________ / __________ (Spreadsheet has a year/turn table in it)

CIV 2 SCORE (On the turn of SS landing or year of Conquer)
__________ Citizens (approx 15,810 max)
__________ Achievements (560 max)
__________ Spaceship (400 max)
__________ Peace (100 max)
__________ Future Technology (1275 max)
__________ Barbarians (set at start; -50, -25, 0, +25)
__________ Pollution (0 or negative; -10 per skull)

__________ Civ 2 Total Score

Note: Early Finish Bonus does not count; all Civ 2 scores are computed manually, as above.

Be sure to include your 3 .SAVs (AD0001, AD1000, and turn before victory) renamed to the following format:

CivPlayer_GOTM18_1000AD.sav

EDIT: Add better formatting for the entry form.

Duke

Firstly, congrats on getting the results out so quickly this month.

Secondly, I did indeed post my submission as Will. I did this for my first GOTM, so for continuity I submitted GOTM17 as Will also. If you prefer me to submit as KingWilly, please let me know.

What other info do you require with submissions, other than the 3 saved game files.

I think starlifter's idea of submitting a standard "entry form" is a good idea. It would probably make it easier you you also.

Although my score was very low, I thought I did alright for my first attempt at a OCC in the GOTM. I'd only ever tried playing an OCC at a lower level, so this was a challenge for me. I ran out of time for my spaceship landing. Hope I do better this month. :p

Duke I am missing my submission,i send my savegames to Matrix and I think they went missing.
Can I sent them again?

I had assumed that Matrix sent me all the games that were sent to him, but since there seems to be some much confusion on the topic, go ahead and send them to me.

Hmm, Duke, when can we expect the final results?
Just curious, I know it takes a while to update the whole webpages and you probably are renewing everything, from rules, results to submission pages, at least I hope so. :yeah:

Don´t let me rush you, though.
:D

Well, I certainly was not disappointed with my result. Sorry about misstating the score - I was so excited to finally finish before 1000 AD that I put down the bonus score in my log. I am thrilled with the fourth place finish, and a little surprised, too. I was really proud of my start, but lost the thread from about 1000 BC and from 0 AD was downright slow.

GOTM 18 was another story...
