I have a really bizarre problem with my GOTM 22 game. If you haven't started the game, you shouldn't read further.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? And what should I do?

Although I fully understand your need to get this question answered this does get a little bit onto my "bad side" because you deliberately did not follow the one important rule that is published in on virtually every page of the GOTM game information. Do not ever open a discussion or question thread about any GOTM game that is currently open without first contacting a Moderator by PM or email.
The reason for this rule is not to be mean to you or to inconvenience you, but just to try and prevent you from disrupting the game for other people. You worked semi hard to try and prevent your question from being a spoiler but your chosen method did the other bad thing of basically forcing me to drop work on other issues like getting the results of Gotm21 out for all the other players as well as trying to get the Game5-4 announcement pages ready to release for everyone to play.
You just need to recognize that when you do not follow the request to contact a moderator by PM or email in cases such as this, you effectively add delay to making other services available to you while at the same time you make it take twice as long to actually help you with your original question.
(internally within you game, if you rightclick on the thing that you do not recognize, there may be information in the civilopedia that will help you find the knowledge you seek.)
We are here to help you but the first choice should not be to run out into the front yard and scream up and down the street to see if any of your neighbors can tell you if you have your underwear on backwards or frontwards. Just PM me or contact me by email as requested in all the game setup information. - cracker
