My suggestion:

Aztecs
Large map
Not more than 8 civilizations
Pangaea, max. land percentage
Planet age: 4 or 5 billion years
Rain/Climate: Defaults

Or: "Why the Aztecs are really Militaristic, Religious, and Expansionist rolled into one."

I've noticed that some other posters have suggested a game as the Babylonians; I wouldn't mind such a game either. (The Scientific/ Religious combo is your friend!)

The races are already set for the game of the month. Next month is the English and the month after the Americans. Look here for more info.

I think this would be good to take advantage of the English characteristics:

Difficulty: Monarch
Size: Standard or Large
Landmass: Archaepelago
Water Coverage: 80%
Age: 4 Billion
Rain/Climate: Defaults
Civs: 5 if standard, 7 if large

This allows for an expansive island game, with an emphasis n naval superiority. The British start with Alphabet and Pottery, which means that they can get Map Making first. This will result in a very different sort of game than people are used to playing.

Isn't the GoTM3 on Monarch Difficulty or is it at Prince?
