Im no expert on PTW as I usually play in Conquests but shouldn't the scientific civs in this game get a free tech at the end of the ancient age? None of them got a free tech.

Or is this just a 'feature' of this particular map?

One other thing. Do you get a free tech with Philosophy in PTW? I got it first (and was hoping for a republic slingshot) and didn't get a free tech.

Some civs may have altered traits in GOTMs. It's always worth using CivAssist to check the civ traits. The most common reason is to equalise the game play for vanilla and PtW players, as vanilla (almost) always gives out the same free tech at the end of each age. So vanilla players lose out where multiple scientific civs are in the game. In this game, I think you'll find at least one of the civs does get a freebie.

No Republic slingshot in Classic versions.
