Like you, I was running out of time. When I was it was going to be tight I worked out a cast iron way to get a diplo victory, with a couple of hours to spare. Like you, when I was invited to hold a vote, it came up inconclusive.

But the votes were:

Ferdinand votes for Ferdinand (got that right then!)
Suleyman abstains (he's at war with both candidates thanks to my MPP with Japan)
Togukawa votes for Togukawa (of course)
Montezuma votes for Ferdinand (we're buddies, him and me)
Hiawatha abstains (he's also at war with both candidates thanks to my MPP with Japan )

So I should have won, shouldn't I? Sounds like the computer is treating 2 abstentions and two votes for me as a draw! Is this a bug?

Oh well! I've submitted my save for the end of the turn before the UN vote and Cracker can sort it out. In my own mind, it's a victory! At Deity! [dance]

So someone else just told me. I think I have an hour left to play 11 turns and try to get a result. Unlikely!

Retirement is not an option for GOTM submissions.

Not submitting for a month hurts your global standings.

There are several ways you can finish the game (with a loss) and get it submitted. Possibly the fastest is to give away all your cities away, disband all your units, and then declare war on everyone.

With this er...ah method at least you get some points and everybody has a chance to look at your game.

Thanks, RufRyder, but as I don't have any global standing (this was to be my first submission) I'll just have to try to deliver on GOTM21. Ho hum.

Good idea. I did this. I'm sad that I couldn't finish. I was on track for domination victory in about 500 AD. But I just ran out of time. :-(

Blah. I did not do that, and would not do that just for points sake. Ah well. The did not finish is what stands, and the game will be finished for my sake.
