just by looking at the set up, a peaceful game for space ship should be easy, a few turns researching tech, building factories and stuff while apollo being built, and space ship should be simple.
You may want peace, but your aggressive rivals armed to the teeth and having nuclear technology are not going to let you have it. The space ship game is partially if not mostly warfare.

Offhand, what may be required is finding out why the "no" votes are "no" votes. Is it because they want an entirely different challenge next month?
Or is it because they believe -- on a matter principle -- that the game shouldn't be played twice.

The former has no bearing on my aforementioned suggestion; but the latter does.

(Then again, if the thread was retitled GOTM 60/GOTM 61 Poll, perhaps we'd have a few more respondants. ...)

Andu: I don't care much - almost voted neutral - but here are my reasons:

1) I prefer a fresh start - see above.
2) Both proposals double the effect of the game on HOF standings.
3) Logistics problems (need rules wrt spoiler info + replays, possible burden on gotm staff).
4) If the proposal fails, you can still replay for your own curiosity, and post your results in the spoiler.

I voted neutral, because when I vote I nearly finished conquest.

If we voted at the beginning, I would say yes. Now I know too much - but I will try Spaceship anyway and let you know (out of GOTM).

What about to start all as another nation - for example poor Chinese?

Thank you for the prompt response. Comments any one?

Looks like some neutrals and "No"s are already planing on playing this anyway just for curiosity.

My earlier comment about lack of new votes obviously missed the point, as we have gotten new ones since.

The respondents so far are very evenly split among the 3 options. There is still a week left in January so we may get more votes.

I'm far enough along on this game that I think I will finish it in time, thus I feel I can vote now. I didn't want to vote if I wasn't going to finish.

I voted no ("Hate it" is a bit harsh, but that was the option)

My main reason for even contemplating a yes vote was just to get more time to finish the game ;) and that seemed contrary to the spirit of the proposal. Otherwise, I'm in line with much of what Peaster said. It's a great setup, but I really don't feel the need to play it out again as a GOTM, even with a different goal in mind.

Now, take my vote with a grain of salt because it's rare that I even play (although Jan-July are the most likely months) so I may not even attempt next month's game. What my vote really means is that I might play next months game if it's new, but I can almost guarantee you that I won't even think about playing next month if it is a repeat of this game.

I didn't vote, but I could see the moderators using this framework for a game in January of next year -- Maybe play the Islam nations on a Jihad?
