I hate this. Quit putting out all these bonus packs or additions. It makes me leery to buy a game because I don't know what 'special version' is coming out that will include something additional for a lower price.

They are loosing revenue here. I doubt I will buy Shogun simply because of this. I thought they learned their lesson with Empire, but apparently not.

I highly doubt its causing them to lose revenue, also I think this means they are done adding new units and campaigns to Empire and Napoleon.

I bought the DLC for Empire when the last one was released, they put them all 10% off and it came out to around $16 USD I think, which for a new campaign and a whole wack of units was a good price for me to consider it an 'expansion pack'. I also waited to buy Empire until it was 50% off at $25 USD and patched up. Right now all the DLC for both games is 50% off too so I recommend picking it up.

Game of the Year editions or Gold Editions and expansion packs are extremely common for games too, and have been since the 1990s!

Then just wait five years before buying any game, and you'll get all the complete versions at a low price and, as far as you're concerned, be at the cutting edge of gaming the whole time. ;)

Yeah! Just because Paradox pulls this kind of crap all the time, doesn't mean that every company does.

In fact, they released Gold Versions for STW, MTW, RTW, and M2TW before this.

Actually, gold versions are probably going to be how I go about buying TW games now. It ensures that I a.) save money, b.) get all the DLC that I'd be way too lazy (and cheap) to buy otherwise, and it also ensures that the game will be patched to perfection when I buy it.

I picked up all the DLC for both Empire and Napolean in this 50% offer. I already have the games which I bought recently for about £7 (empire) and (£9 Napolean Imperial ed) from sales in a local shop. Unless I desperately want a game when it first comes out (Civ 5) I usually wait until the price drops and the bundles come out. It just depends how important it is to you personally to get it early.
