I'm low on SG's again and wanted to start something.

Everything is random, except mapsize which is standard.

First start, with the exception of complete tundra and jungles will be the case here. For once I will start so no restarts will be possible. (disclaimer - if it really sucks after a couple of turnsets, we can negotiate this, and I will let next player on the roster start instead)

One rule only, except the normal "fair play", you have to automate workers by pressing Shift-A.

This can mean no settler factories and lots of other funny stuff, since the workers decide what is important. I never automate workers in my normal games, but have played a couple where the results can be either frustrating or sometimes nice. But mostly frustrating :)

And by doing the Shift-A thing, they won't go back and rearrange what has already been done. They will clear up pollution though and other fancy things.

All you have to do now is to MM your cities and whack those baddies. No more decisions of where to send that worker, he will let of the burden off your shoulders.

Random everything, because it will be decision-making on the go.

Demi-God anyone? Deity could be too tricky.

Roster:

1 - gozpel
2 - CarlosMM
3 - grahamiam
4 - Bede
5 - Kaiser Berger
6 - Sir Bugsy?

You posting in my thread without signing up? :wow:

Yes, about time I got the lazy workers going, it has been nagging me for quite a while now

i'll play if you have me, but i'll be out of town for a week beginning Sunday, so if we start today, but me 2nd, otherwise, put me last :)

Can I suggest emperor as the level? Without settler factories and optimal work actions you are going to get killed during the expansion phase with the AI getting two settlers to start.

This is NOT a sign up. I simply couldn't handle the frustration of automated workers.

I've done it on Emperor, but it is a good point, Lee.

I just wanted to UP the experience :) This is only for fun anyways.

grahamiam, I'm going to sleep in a minute. You can start if you want to and I get the second spot when I wake up? Remember, everything random except standard, and first decent save.

Carlos, you have a couple of turnsets in you before you go away, so you're in :) and you might come back in time to finish it off.

Demigod does make sense then. I didn't realize you ran one of these already. I simply can't follow all the game out there due to lack of time. My browsing is limited to players I know will run more interesting games. I have no interest in watching a regent level game at this point.

Sign me up, g.

After the first one how could I resist?

One question. Can you stop your workers due to war?

Bugs - No! But the turn after they scurry away and hide by themselves, so if we declare, we have to protect them which can be hassle :) They tend to group in pairs or three's. I reserve a spot for you if you're interested, 6 players might be better with people going away.

Your opinons are always welcome, Lee, maybe I can start something really interesting one day so you can join.

Bede and Kaiser, welcome. :)

I start this very soon, when the coffee takes effect.

Great, we have a team then.

I'll start with the first 25-30 turns, players after that can take 10-15 for the first turnset, then we all play 10. Without managing workers the first turns tend to be pretty quick.

And remember, I take the first usable save and if we see that we are without chances early on, we can always reroll.

We are the Ottomans.

The settler is standing on a wheat on a river, with another wheat next to it. Unfortunately they are both on plains.

Move settler SW, worker won't work without a town. :)

3950bc - Istanbul founded -> warrior. Shift-A worker and he start to road the wheat.
There's a game outside our borders too.

Research at max on Pottery - 17t.

3850bc - The worker decides to mine the wheat. I told you, this will be fun :)

3700bc - Istanbul builds a warrior, starts another.

Bubba goes west.

3650bc - We meet a Russian scout, they won't part with Alphabet, but we can get Pottery and a worker for Masonry. Deal. They won't be crippled for long anyways.
Set research to Alphabet and min, so we hopefully can buy it sooner than later.

Btw, we are near the sea.

3600bc - Russian borders are way to close for comfort :(

3500bc - Istanbul warrior -> spear. Biff goes NE and spot furs.

3450bc - Border expansion and we see wines between us and Russia, they will get it first if we don't build some culture building, which we probably won't.

More wheat around, 2 on grass SE of town.

3350bc - Bubba meets India, we buy Alphabet for Masonry and 17g! Writing on min.
Russia knows WC.

I really wish I could squeeze out a settler now, 2 good spots NE and SE.

3300bc - Biff finds some gems to the E.

I'm glad to see Russian settler-pair on the western side of Moscow.

3250bc - Istanbul spear -> settler.

2950bc - Istanbul settler -> warrior. Send the settler NE to the floodplains.

2850bc - Edrine founded -> warrior.

2750bc - Istanbul warrior -> spear. Warrior goes S to check out the surrounding there.

2710bc - Russia knows the Wheel.

2630bc - Edrine warrior -> worker.

I haven't seen any GH's or barbs, so the randomness might have worked in our favour?

India just learned IW.

Well, that's it. We seem to sit on an island with Russia and India. Next city have to be on the coast next to the 2 wheats and the next after that should be by the furs and cow. We need some curraghs out as soon as possible.

The workers didn't irrigate the wheats, which was expected by me. But it certainly stopped our expansion

Carlos or grahamiam next? We can continue with 15-turns each for now, it's quick as it is.

This is like the RBCiv game where you had to automate your workers. Carthage was changed to the Caribbeans. I wrote a funny report with everyone using a lot of :smoke: Looks like we'll need a lot here to keep our workers happy.

A very interesting concept !

Way way above my difficulty level but I will be watching this one with interest.

Good luck all ! (I think you are going to need it :) )
